This is kind of technical, but until the 10th month of TTC, I didn't know that the egg could only live for 12-24 hours without being fertilized. I thought that once you ovulated, you could get pregnant any time during the luteal phase! Ridiculous!

I did not know about the gross increase discharge.

I didn't know I would get heartburn.

I thought I would be far more of an emotional mess than I actually am (which is a positive! yay!)

I didn't know that I still FEEL like I have my pre-preg body. I don't know if this one makes sense to anyone else, but I hit my belly on so many things because I forget that it's there... I feel like when it gets tiring I should just be able to "take it off" for a while.

@MrsLilybugg: haha seriously! some lady sort of, kind of, not really made room for me to sneak by her in a seat on the train when I had to get off. Nothing I could never fit through before. My belly hit the seat and my butt hit her and I seriously LOL'd and told her she needed to get out of my way.

Things no one told me about pregnancy:

-That "morning sickness" is a terribly misleading term.
-That my nose would bleed every. single. morning.
-That once you hit late pregnancy, you can only sleep on your side. Too bad it is insanely painful to do so and you end up waking up every hour to attempt to get comfortable.
-That I would eventually forget what the word "comfortable" even means.
-Sciatica.
-That I would leak pee on a daily basis without even realizing it.
-Copious amounts of discharge.
-That I would confuse labor pains and poo pains. Twice.
-The fact that those cute little kicks become painful in the third trimester.
-My vagina hurts. I've had to break open the diaper rash cream to fix it.
-I fart. A lot. A lot, a lot.

I didn't realize how bad third trimester heartburn would be.

I figured I would get *way* bigger towards the end, and was surprised to find out that my small beach ball isn't cause for concern, like I figured it would be. Guess everyone is different.

I thought I would crave more sex. No thank you, penis.

@rahlyrah: My vagina (and bungholio, CAUSE YOU WANNA KNOW THAT, TOO) also hurt, I'm shocked to realize pregnancy ignited sciatica exits, and I've had "CALL THE ER" scares over the pains associated with pooping, too.

We're hot.

@.twist.: I try to initiate, just to feel like I'm being normal, but I quickly loose interest or become uncomfortable. Poor DH. He's heard, "actually, nevermind." on more than a few occasions.

I didn't realize all the random weird stuff my body would do...Like my hands going numb at night, swelling, not being able to roll over in bed, my hips coming out of joint, my pelvis popping out. I got wicked hip and pelvis dysplasia that had to be controlled by 4 visits a week at the physical therapist for about 3 months of my pregnancy. Oh, and constipation! Why did no one tell me I wouldn't be able to go normally for three months straight?!

I didn't realize that pregnancy didn't always mean extreme jubilation! The 1st time I got pregnant, I was thrilled beyond belief. After losing that pregnancy and another, my 3rd BFP was me putting off peeing on a stick as long as possible as to not get my hopes up too early. Then consisted of a very worry filled 9 months!

@deerylou: Oh gosh yes. That and nosebleeds. Sexayyyy!

I didnt realize how hard it is to not worry throughout the whole process

That my feet would go up half a size and never come back to normal

That so much of the birth process is totally out of my control

During pregnancy if you laugh/cough or sneeze too hard you might pee on yourself

I second all of these!

I didn't know I would lose feeling in my fingers (and make a ton of typos on the computer because of it).

I didn't know how hard it would be to roll from one side to the other when I am sleeping...or how many noises I would make in the process.

-that I would gain most of my weight in places other than my stomach.... I was totally expecting a giant, adorable belly. Uhh let's try flabby wings, huge expanding hips, and giant booty. Siiighhh

Lightening crotch. Like stop dead in your tracks, almost wreck your car kind of pain!

I didn't realize you could bleed/spot throughout pregnancy without something being "wrong"

I didn't realize you could have braxton hicks contractions starting in the second trimester

I didn't realize what constipation "really" was.

I didn't realize lightening crotch was a thing. Ouch.

I didn't realize how easy it would be to leak pee after laughing, coughing, walking, bending...

I didn't realize how CRAZY active babies in utero are, and how visible their movements are from the outside!

I never knew how scary sneezing could be. The pollen is really bad this year where I live, and I am sneezing all the time. I dread it. I never know if it will bring the I-just-got-stabbed-in-the-stomach round ligament pain orrr....I'll pee myself a little. Great.

I also wanted NO SEX ever for a good long while. Now I want sex but it is THE MOST AWKWARD THING EVER. Nothing like getting things going to be distracted by a baby kick. Or the onslaught of sudden heartburn.

I always though pregnancy would be cute belly and good feelings all around. HA! It's hard and I'm shocked when I see myself in the mirror.

I didn't realize that your boobs could start leaking as soon as like 14 weeks (mine started at 16).

That no matter how many kegels you do you could randomly pee yourself a little towards the end...especially if your little one isuusing your bladder as a trampoline

That your water might break without gushing out of you. I knew it might not break at all but i had no idea you might just start leaking and think you're peeing yourself.
