Inspired by all the Christmas chatter today!
So, what are you all planning on doing in terms of decorating your home and possibly your costumes (not your kids)?
I think this year I might invest in a couple of funkins and make some pumpkin topiaries. Provided the rain doesn't wreck them, I am all about reusable decor.
I was also thinking about what I could wear for Halloween this year, coming up with nothing!

We have a few things we decorate our porch with (pumpkin, skeleton pirate, and a tombstone)... and we decorate our foyer table with indoor stuff and candy bowls 
I'm not sure what I'm going to be, but we plan on taking DS to my home church's trick or treat fest since it's before DS' bedtime!

I really like "real" style decor. We have a little black cage with a realistic crow in it, and a realistic tombstone. Some other things along those lines. Which we will use again, and then obviously a jack-o-lantern.
Not sure what to be this year. I had some great idea's but I haven't had any time to execute them this year. I need more hours in the day.

I decorate more for fall then Halloween. Front will have mums in the flower pots and pumpkins. I made a leaf wreath years ago. Inside we put up a couple pumpkin and ghost stuff. DH and I aren't huge Halloween people so we never do much.

Last year, after seeing that we got lots of trick-or-treaters in our new neighborhood, my husband said he wanted to go all out this year with decorations, so I am going to try and hold him to that 
I want to get little ghosts on stakes and make some jack-o-lanterns, put up orange lights and play creepy music. We bought LO's costume last year, a Carters snow leopard costume

@dreamocracy: yep, our house gets a lot of traffic on trick or treating nights...people drive to our neighborhood because a lot of houses get in on the fun!
I can't do anything scary because I don't want to freak my son out, lol. I would love to do skeletons playing cards on the front lawn, not this year, lol.

I decorate for fall, then put a bunch of cheesy Halloween stuff up around then as well. We have a party every year, and this year the theme is child-hood toys. So, I'm thinking I'm going to be Jem!

DS is still young so we'll probably go light on the decor. We're also in a new neighborhood this year so we'll gauge how much decor the neighbors do and follow in suit. I'd love to do more once DS is older and can understand/help! Love being festive!
I know we'll carve a pumpkin though. We do this every year!

I usually decorate my porch for fall/harvest more than Halloween. SO I do pumpkins, a hay bale, and some fall flowers to make it welcoming.
I doubt I dress up this year, there's been no mention of a party or anything so we will probably be pretty lame and just trick or treat & hang out with family.

@.twist.: That's how my old neighborhood was! No one turns on their lights or anything. So depressing. For Christmas, I'm the crazy lady that puts up all the lights and is super festive. Such a downer when you're the only house with lights on the whole dang street!
The first year we moved in, I bought like 10lbs of candy ready to hand out. Super stoked. I even turned down a Halloween party to stay home and pass out candy!! Not one single kid stopped by. I told DH if just one kid stops by, they can have ALL of our candy, but nope. By 8pm, I was in bed wallowing in my sadness. lol

We do more of a fall theme. We have some re-useable pumpkins from last year. I will probably grab a few more (Michaels). We have a fall themed wreath for the door and I will add mums this year.
We don't do costumes and this year, I will probably stay home for the TorT. Last year we left the bucket on the front porch and I'm pretty sure some kids got greedy. I'll be two weeks away from having #2 so I will let DH head out with #1.

@Alivoo01: We have kids in our neighborhood, not a ton, but we expected some. Especially since we have a block party till it is gets dark and then the kids go out. We had two kids. I was so bummed. We live near the front so all the kids stayed in the big circle and just went there.

@Smurfette: So many kids are taken to the malls these days (at least where we are). We have a ton of kids in our neighbourhood but you'd never know it on Halloween because they're all at the mall. I get that it's warmer and "safer". I quote safer because I know of some parents that just drop their kid off, so it's really not that much safer, in my opinion.
I think it takes all the fun out of spooky halloween and getting candy!

@.twist.: I think some malls do it around here the weekend before. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if some of the parents load up their kids and drive over to some of the rich homes in the area.

This year we actually have our own yard and proximity to trick or treaters so I think we will really do it up! I wanna make a scarecrow in our yard, line it with jack o lanterns, throw a pumpkin carving party. I wanna do it up!!! I love Halloween so much and now instead of holding back I start nice and early so I can enjoy it a lot longer. Fall is my favorite season and even though its 90 degrees tomorrow I plan on getting an early pumpkin spice latte too.
@.twist.: ugh I hate that whole mall trick or treating shift! It depresses me so much. Luckily we live in a city that's a huge trick or treating epicenter! The malls give out crap candy too. Tootsie rolls! Never a mini snickers!

@MrsMccarthy: ew. tootsie rolls! Definitely better candy going house to house, I say! So many parents say "it's too cold to go outside" and I'm always like "what kind of child WERE you??? I used to go out when it was snowing! below zero! where's your halloween SPIRIT!?" haha But, halloween is also my favourite holiday so I have a lot of passion for "doing it right".

@Smurfette: I totally would have ran down to the circle and been like hey kids!! I have candy tooooo! lol
@Smurfette: I know some families that do that because they give out the full size candy bars instead of the mini ones.

You know what else surprised me about trick or treating? I took DS last year with some close friends who had older kids. We all dressed up and went trick or treating the "real way" - lol and when it was DS's turn, (he was 4 months at the time), they candy passer outters would be like oh! hold on one second. Let me get him the special candy! Which ended up being non-chocolate, non-nuts candy or some kind of toy. I thought that was real thoughtful of them, but I would have never thought of that myself!
Meanwhile, I'm like, my son is 4 months, he's not eating any of this any way, give me the good stuff!! aka the chocolate with nuts in it! lol

@.twist.: exactly!! It's supposed to be cold and spooky and murky out! I love Halloween too. I will have to be careful not to become the Clark Griswald of Halloween by forcing the fun on my family. I wear a costume every year and I always make a big deal of it. Luckily my husband comes from a huge Halloween family too. My sisters husband doesn't and that would be so depressing to me.

We will get a few pumpkins and some dried corn. I have a fall wreath that will be on the front door. Inside, not much. We mostly decorate outside for Halloween.
