I love Wordpress - its user friendly and has LOTS of customization options. Write what makes you happy, write often (or post on set days, so your readers know when to expect an update)...and have fun!

Pick a blogging platform that works for you, I recommend WordPress just for the ease, flexibility, and security features it has over Blogger. There is also Squarespace which is a popular option for new bloggers as well.

Check out Pinterest for blogging tip roundups. I really like the content @Foodnerd81:'s friend posted on her blog. Most of it should be really helpful for you. If you want to grow your blog, be sure to engage with other bloggers within your niche by leaving comments and connecting on social media.

I'm only a blog reader but I like:

Regular posts - not necessarily daily but 2-3 times a week is nice

I like bloggers who can laugh at themselves and admit when they're wrong

I really like reading the comments section and healthy, civilised debate.

my only advice is you get out of it, what you put into it!

i was really active with my running blog for a year or two - posted a lot, hosting contests (just for fun), commenting and emailed with other running bloggers - I made a lot of friends during that time, and met a good handful in person who became real friends. i haven't been blogging like i used to the past year and half, and i definitely miss all those connections i made!

I would also think about whether you care if people don't read and if you have any long term goals for the blog. If it's just a space to write, then that's great, too.
