... does your dog eat poop?
My Golden Retriever (3.5 years old) STILL eats poop. She's been this way since she was a puppy. It's so disgusting. I've tried everything - pineapple juice, Tabasco, special medications - and nothing works.
UGH. So gross

our yorkie (4) had a bad habit of eating our beagle's...he hasn't been doing it recently.
my friend told me to put hot sauce on the poop... but we we were too lazy to try. we just waited it out. or yelled whenever we caught him.

My dog used to when she was younger, especially after she eats carrots! She would re-eat it! SO EW! Sometimes it's b/c they are missing something in their diet. Maybe try switching her dog food brand to one that's more natural? I tried Forbid before and it worked for my dog. She stopped eventually and I don't remember if it's b/c I also switched her food brand to something better? Worth a try.

A lot of people's dogs do! Go read http://www.dogshaming.com

I knew a dog that only liked frozen poop in the snow lol. My dog doesn't, she is SO picky about food so a benefit of that is she will never eat random/gross things off the ground.
She just eats whatever she finds while out walking?

Oh yes. So disgusting. Sometimes she poops and turns around and eats it steaming hot. We've tried everything, too. I finally read that none of it really works and felt liberated. Best thing is to keep the yard clean.

@mrsjyw: It's weird, she looooves our Yorkies' poop. She doesn't eat her own
 I tried hot sauce... she spit it out, but then ate it up immediately. She's got a stomach of steel.
@erwoo: That's what I heard, too, but she's on an all-natural, grain-free, expensive boutique dog food
 I don't know what else I could try.

@snowjewelz: we call the frozen stuff poopsicles! Those seem to be prized treats.

@pinkcupcake: honestly, i think it's more of the polar vortex of our winter that has deterred him more than anything. YUCK. so gross.

@snowjewelz: LOL. A frozen poop-sicle!
@Happygal: "Steaming hot" -- ew! Mine does that to our Yorkies' poop - she loves to eat it right as they're pooping it out. OMG, shudder. That just made me feel sick.

Yep. Our older dog used to eat the cat poop when we had a cat and she liked to eat her and our other dog's poop. Totally normal BUT GROSS.

@Happygal: At least it's less disgusting than steaming hot soft poo, I guess?

Our dog does it in protest whenever we reduce her food because she needs to lose a few pounds. We found some pills that seem to deter her from doing it though

Ugh our golden doodle does. Usually not his own but always eats out small dogs. Like every single time. It's so gross. Luckily her poop is the size of my pinky finger so he's now like chewing down on it. But still. So gross!

@Happygal: Hahaha, poopsicles!
My dog will occasionally go for her poop, but only in poopsicle form, never during the warmer months. So disgusting.

I did it! Still learning smarty phone functions. That link has good info. Interesting info about breeds and poop eating.
Sometimes I see her going for poop and I'll yell. She will look at me with a big piece of poop dangling from her mouth. Gag.
Love my dog, but she's such an animal!!!

@pinkcupcake: In that case maybe switch to a different brand anyway to try. Or put some Forbid into her food. That was the only thing that helped. You can also try to exercise her more too. Not that I'm implying that you don't. Some dogs just need more exercise than others. My sister has the same breed dog as mine and she just requires more attention than mine does. And she eats poop too.

We're diligent about picking up her poop so there's never any for her to try to eat.

One of our dogs only did it when we were trying a new food and she wasn't getting enough protein in her diet so she was still hungry. Have you considered if your dog's diet could be a contributing factor?
