I was rummaging with my mom this morning looking for some deals :p, and one of the women running a rummage I've never met/seen/spoke to in my entire life, asked to hold my baby while I looked around. I was totally shocked. I had no idea what to say. I just told her she just ate, and I still needed to burp her, smiled, and walked away. I would never ask to hold a strangers baby! And her friend or sister or whoever, said to the woman who asked to hold her "Oh then you'll have to share her with mom!" Referring to the 3rd older lady with them. Ummm, my baby is not going to be passed around to strangers. Sorry!

oooh my gosh - totally creepy! i would NEVER let a stranger hold my baby either... my first thought was what Mrs. Bee said - what if they took the baby!!
@Mrs. Jacks: haha I agree - usually whenever I'm out shopping of any kind, he's in his carrier and people just comment on how cute he is lol

I wouldn't let a stranger hold my baby, but that's totally happened to me too.

I've also had strangers ask. Luckily lo has major stranger anxiety so I have a good excuse.

That is super odd! I have had lots of people peek and comment on Sawyer, but if no stranger has even really tried to touch him yet, let alone ask to hold him.

I don't have a LO so I don't have that fierce protectiveness yet, but I grew up around babies being passed around a lot, even to strangers. I wouldn't be shocked if my mom had asked a stranger this before. She certainly asks to hold her favorite baby at church every single Sunday - different because they know each other, obviously, but still. Some people, especially of older generations, think that they are just helping out. Though if you were with your mom, obviously she could help, so this lady's baby rabies was clearly the main motivator!

& I might have worn my baby to keep him away from MIL at christmas - I'm not evil, I swear! he was a week old and she's verrrry rough with him, didn't understand that he was too small to roughhouse even with him being born with a collapsed lung
