We are in the market for a kitchen table and chairs. This set caught my eye in an ad a while ago from Ashley. I'm usually not a huge fan of the distressed, antique look but I keep coming back to it. What do you think? The first picture has all of the chair options and the second is what I was thinking we'd get. Any other ideas if you're not a fan?

I totally love it. I wouldn't mix and match the chairs. I would stick to the ones you picked out.

I really like it!!! And I prefer the chairs you picked out to the mix-and-match in the first pic...but I'd be a little concerned about the fabric for every day use. Does it wash/wear well?

I like the set as you chose it but like @SLR I thought of the fabric chairs. having seen fabric chairs after kids have used them... EWW! If this is for a kid-free dining room, great. Daily use? Definitely would never ever.

@SLR: @scg00387: it would be everyday use which is partly why I'm concerned. I was originally thinking the upholstered chairs for just the ends and choose four blue or white chairs for the sides. The blue chairs are just wood and the white chairs are wood with upholstered seats.

I don't love the first picture, but if you did four blue & then an upholstered at each end, that would look nice. I just don't love three different chairs at one table!

We're about to get a new kitchen set, too, and we're purposefully getting non-upholstered chairs (we have ones with upholstered seats now). M is starting solids soon and the food will be flying and I just don't want to mess with having to clean upholstery. I do love it, though!

@swedishfish: I know your LO is younger than mine.. so if there is any way I can convince you to avoid upholstery at all costs, I would 
I can't even tell you how many food drips I've wiped off our (all wood) chairs (all of them, no matter the location around the table). Food sometimes flies, straws with food flies, he somehow finds food later on and smears it while running, etc. etc. I think we're pretty careful with food, and he is pretty well behaved all things considered. It just gets messy!

@swedishfish: I LOVE it. I would absolutely mix and match a little; the upholstered for the two end chairs, and then either of the wooden ones for the rest. I think it would look fantastic.

@swedishfish: sometimes, in my head, i design a house for when we're retired... and when I'll make my husband only eat on the porch LOL. Oh, and the dog will live outside too

Love it and love the mix and match chairs. If the different colors is too much, I'd do the upholstered for the ends and then the wooden for the sides.

I love the table but, personally, would go with different chairs. Not mix and matched but not the fabric ones. I fear they'd get too dirty with daily use.
