I visited a preschool for my daughter yesterday that is a Waldorf school. I really enjoyed it and I think that she would do very well there, but they accept non-vaccinated children. Is this something that should worry me? Since she is vaccinated, she wouldn't get the diseases, should there be an outbreak, right? But she could bring something home to her little brother? What would you do, send her anyways? This is the only Waldorf school in my area....

That's odd. I was under the impression that if they're licensed by the state, all kids are required to be immunized and they need to have the records on hand. I personally wouldn't be comfortable with it, but that's just me. It was a question I specifically asked the daycares we looked at, and no matter how much I loved the one we chose, I wouldn't have chosen it if they didn't require immunizations.

I would not send DS anywhere that I knew he would be exposed to unvaccinated children. DS is vaccinated, but has a few more vaccines over the next few months. My SIL is having a baby and if DS were around children that weren't vaccinated, he wouldn't be allowed near the baby. Especially since you have another LO at home, there is no way I would take the risk.
I am all for vaccinating on a schedule that you are comfortable with, but there is no way I'd let DS play with kids I knew were not vaccinated. In our area there is an outbreak of whooping cough, which is so scary because it is deadly. Everyone got the flu shot and pertussis (whoping cough) vaccine before DS was born and my SIL is having anyone who will be around her baby do the same.

I wouldnt want non vaccinated kids with my kid. I dont mind if they dont have the flu shot or the chicken poxhot but things like whooping cough are real

The fact that she could bring something home to her little brother who hasn't been vaccinated yet worries me...

I also wouldn't want non vaccinated kids around my child. My pediatrician told me she had a few kids who were vaccinated for the whooping cough but ended up getting it anyway! She told me this because my son had a really bad cough that didn't go away for 2 months. She thought it could be the whooping cough. I told her he was vaccinated for it and she said it's not a guarantee. Thankfully it was just a sinus infection. But just the fact that there were other children who still got the whooping cough after being vaccinated freaks me out. I wouldn't take the risk if I were you, especially with a little brother at home who has not been vaccinated. Too risky!
