are you supposed to get it again for subsequent pregnancies?? I'm 2 days shy of 38 weeks and this just crossed my mind. My doctor hasn't mentioned it.

My understanding is yes. I had gotten it right before getting pregnant with my first (knowing we were trying) and this time, while pregnant with twins my provider suggested I get it again. Her comment was that while I didn't need it, it was the best way to get the vaccine to the babies.

Yes. They used to say once every five years, but now they say with each pregnancy.

yes - first time in the hospital after birth, this time my OB wanted me to get it between certain weeks near the end to try to maximize immunity for the baby. I'm guessing with more cases popping up they want to do whatever they can to help.

I read somewhere (I think one of the notices on the wall at the midwife office?) that it's every pregnancy. It hasn't come up this time yet.

I did at my last appointment (28 wks). I wasn't entirely thrilled about it, & I feel like I've had many TDAP shots, but also heard the latest guidance is each pregnancy, so reluctantly got it done. I will say that this time it hurt like crazy for several days after. I'm no pansy, but I could barely move my arm the next day & ended up icing my shoulder that night. Should've done that sooner.

Yup. You are vaccinated but getting the vaccine while pregnant confers immunity to the baby which is critical before they are old enough.

My OB wants all pregnant women in his practice to get it no matter how recently you were last vaccinated. He said it isn't just about making sure you're immune but ramping up your antibodies to pass on to the baby.

Yes. You have to get it again but your spouse/parents etc don't have to get it again if they got it the first time.

@yellowbird: me too! I was too late last time and got it at the hospital after birth, I'm 30 weeks this time and no ones mentioned it again. Hopefully it not too late.
@GoGoSnoGirl: Yep this happened to both my DH and I last time

My OB said that you should get it with each pregnancy because some of the antibodies can go to the baby. I asked if my DH should get it again but they said he was fine (had gotten it two years before when our DD was born)

Yup, I would call and ask. I already got mine at that point.

@yellowbird: I was sick and on antibiotics when I was supposed to get it, and then we all forgot about it!
