DS is 28 months. I am due with DS#2 in January when he will be 33 months. We need to transition him to a new room/bed (he's already in a toddler bed but he's going to move to a queen with rails). And we need to potty train. I don't want to do either too close to my due date because that in itself will be a big transition right? I don't want to overwhelm him. What transitions did you need to make with your first before baby came and what timing worked or didn't work?

at 33 months he was PTd
At 36 months he moved to a bedIt all went smooth

I havent done this yet - but here is my plan. DD will be 30 mos when #2 arrives in March...
October - move to toddler bed in new room (may just start with naps - still deciding)
Christmas Time - give up paciAs for PT - we are going to follow her cue's...she is starting to show some but definitely not there yet. Hoping by Christmas she is.

Dis was 21 months when dd was born. The only thing we did was wean from the nuk around 17 months and he did surprisingly well. He wasn't ready for potty training until 3 which I was okay with. Now I'm expecting #3 when dd will be 26 months old. I'm hoping to lose the nuk by then but am not sure about anything else! Transitions are hard!

DS is 32 months. We moved him to a big boy bed around 28 months, four months before his little sister was born. He sort of transitioned from stroller to scooter around the same time - we would have been fine with him still using the stroller, but there was peer pressure in day care
Potty training happened way earlier, though I'm keeping an eye out for regressions of course. I think the timing was good, I'm hoping it's not "baby sister took my bed and stroller" in his mind.

DS2 is not yet here (8 more days), but DS1 is now 29m (almost 30).
We switched him into a toddler bed right around his second birthday. He was napping in one at grandma's house a few times a week already at that point, so it wasn't a big deal.
A month or so after, we started reading him the "Pacifiers are Not Forever" book and told him that now he was in a big boy bed, he was a big boy and didn't need the paci. We stuffed his favorite one into a build a bear (which he helped make) and got rid of the paci that way. Took 2 days for him to stop asking for it, but was way easier than I thought it would be.
The one thing we've held off on was potty training. Everyone I've spoken to said it's easier to wait and kids will regress a lot of times when the new sibling is there. I don't know if that's true or not, but DS doesn't really seem to be ready anyway. We will try in a few months when we're adjusted to having 2!

Xander was only 21 months when Logan was born, so different, but we transitioned him into a new room when I was 28 weeks, so he'd have plenty of time to get used to it before the baby took over the nursery.

I really want to do sutff on the ealier side so the my LO is less likely to associate the changes with the baby and "blame" him. We aren't switching rooms but we are switching furniture. We plan to do it next week when I'm 21 weeks and LO is 32 months. She's currently in the crib with the toddler rail and we'll be moving her into a queen size bed with a bed rail. She's already fully potty trained. Kicking the paci is next (she is only allowed to have it in her bed right now.

DD was 28 months when DS was born last month. We did the bed/toddler room transition at 25 months. That went well. We took the crib and the glider to the garage instead of directly to DS's room. When the furniture reappeared a few months later in DS's room she didn't seem bothered at all.
We're still in the thick of potty training. We got her a potty around 24 months just to introduce it. She started pooping in it realiably about 26 months. So with two months to go to DS's arrival we tried potty training. If didn't really take. That might be because she's in Pull Ups at daycare (and then since it wasn't working, at home too). After DS was home about three weeks she regressed and started pooping in the Pull Up. That lasted two weeks and now I think she's making progress again. I don't really regret trying the potty training/learning. Even with accidents we're using fewer disposable products daily which was my main motivation at point.

We paci weaned and potty trained when Lo was 2.5, about 6 months before Lo2. I wanted enough time for those things to really be established before baby. We will switch to a toddler bed next month--lo1 is 2y10m and lo2 is due 2 months later.

I am due in two weeks, so this week, we are moving our twenty month old to his new room (he will still be in a crib). We are sort of potty training, but nothing hard core right now (mostly just taking him often and when he says he has to go)

We transitioned my 23 month old to a different room and double bed (from a crib) at the end of May for an early August due date baby. It went perfect, thankfully. We are going to put off potty training for a while until DS shows more readiness which means baby will probably be a few months old when we start attempting.
