My new favorite tip for this is to pick a totally odd location like on top of the dryer or the guest bedroom closet. I am usually a big fan of telling kids what we are doing and all that jazz but sneak attacks kind of work better in this instance. When you know a diaper change is coming up stash the wipes and clean diaper in your odd spot and lay down a changing pad if necessary, then carry lo there singing songs, blow raspberries on her belly as you lay her down, pretend her feet are missing in her pant legs etc. and by the time they know what is going on you are half done .

It won't work every time but I save this tactic for poopy diapers and it usually works. For wet diapers I often will take their bottoms and maybe even the diaper off before I ever even remove them from what they are doing too, sometimes they are annoyed but again it usually minimizes the awful bits!

I sing songs or let her bring a favorite toy with her. We play games where she has to identify her different body parts. I tickle her belly and try to make her laugh. Basically anything to keep her distracted.
