We only did 2 hrs but our LO is 3 weeks. We made sure the car was packed and as soon as she was done feeding, put her in the car and left! She made it all te way through. I second getting them dressed for bed and making sure they're nice and toasty warm.

Tagging - ambitiously planning a 4 hr roadtrip when LO is like 10 days old (to stay with my parents for a few weeks) so will come back to this

We did a road trip when LO was 8 weeks. Packed and loaded the car. Fed, got in car, tucked a blanket around him to feel like a swaddle and planned to do one stop for a feeding if needed. If babe is sleeping, keep driving! Bring a tupperware with lid to pee in if needed - gross but not kidding - if you stop the car the baby might wake up and we didn't want to risk that!

We had one person sit next to her in case she needed to be soothed. We drove during the day, and timed pit stops with when it was her feeding time. It worked pretty well and she slept through most of it, and there was only one leg where she was really fussy.

I find that road trips are easiest when they are younger!

Driving during sleeping time is amazing. We took a 14 hour trip when DS was a little over 2 months old (10 weeks?). We changed/fed & left immediately, a few hours before his bed time. We stopped after 2 hours to do his "bedtime" feed/diaper and then stopped every 4-5 hours after that. He slept nearly the whole time, but we did have to do a off-ramp pull over once.

On the way back, we got smarter. We didn't stop just to feed. If he woke up and was hungry, I leaned over his seat and fed him while DH drove. We only stopped to switch drivers when one of us was tired and did diapers then.

It wasn't that bad (as "not bad" as a 14 hour car ride can be). It was our dang dog who really gave us all the problems
