Maybe make sure it's not on an empty belly?
How old is your LO? You could mix into a separate oz of formula or BM, then give rest of bottle after. My LO sucks it down but try to aim for back pocket of cheek.
Hope your LO feels better soon!!

@MamaChin: my LO barfed yesterday when we gave her medicine. I'm hoping it is just a phase.

@MrsH: Chloe always puked with certain medicines. Tylenol was one of them.
Can you use suppositories to administer the Tylenol/Motrin!
Can you mix the antibiotic with a bottle? We could with omnicef, but not another medicine she had to take one.
How old is lo? Chloe is 2.5 and we've had success letting her take small sips of the medicine, followed by a quick drink of water, then some more medicine, etc.

He is 20 months. After he barfed up half his dinner I let him rest and play for a while before trying again. I just put it on a spoon and it worked better. Probably helps that he is programmed to swallow from a spoon.

The doctor or pharmacist should be able to tell you if it's better to take a medication with food or on an empty stomach. I think a lot of times it doesn't matter and taking meds with food can help with throwing up, but for some medications it's important to know which it should be.
For our little guy, the one thing that makes the biggest difference with the syringe is squirting it into the side of his mouth/cheek instead of the middle of his mouth. If we do it in the middle, he is very likely to gag and might throw up. On the side, it's really never an issue.

This is probably breaking some parenting rule, but C was just on her first antibiotic and refused to swallow it. Rather than waste it all, we mixed it with yogurt, applesauce, anything we knew she'd eat well.

@jessibear: chocolate pudding can really mask the taste of yucky meds too! Or chocolate syrup.

We put it towards her cheek and lightly blow in her face. She inhales and then she will swallow.

@Seattlemom: I"m pretty sure chocolate syrup would help ME with foul-tasting things, too!

My LO (19m) has been on her fair share of antibiotics so we've had to try out a few techniques to find what works best for us. It's worked best when we attempt to make it fun for her. We do a little at a time and then have her drink from her sippy, usually by cheers-ing with mommy and daddy's glasses. We make a big deal out of clinking glasses and it seems to distract her enough. We give it with food or shortly after and she is usually fine.
She did throw up a couple times in the first doses of augmentin, but was fine after that. If diarrhea or upset tummy is an issue, you can also give more yogurt and add some probiotics. That usually seems to help us.
