So both my husband and I have decided that we really want to do something about getting in shape and we are trying to decide what to try...

We both want to focus on strength training and building muscle. I have done diets and tons of cardio in the past but even at my lowest weight I was never very toned.

We are trying to decide between the option of joining a gym and trying personal training sessions or purchasing some equipment to use at home. I've had mixed success with both options in the past (though I've never worked with a trainer). We currently have a treadmill and some limited weight equipment.

What has worked for you? Anyone have any tips for staying motivated with going to the gym or doing at-home workouts?
