I never know when I need to put on a onesie or not. Sure Sienna is still small and can get cold, but when it's super hot outside, is a onesie really necessary?
How do you onesie? When did you stop?

I have the same question! I have been skipping the onesie if it's hot out and I'm dressing her in very summery stuff. But sometimes I will put one on her for added layers. If it gets hot later in the day, then I can just strip her down to the onesie.

I don't use an extra onesie, and probably won't until fall/winter. I've always heard the rule is the same number of layers you would wear + 1. It's so hot and humid here already, I just keep a muslin blanket in my baby bag to be the extra layer when we're out and about.

@c.sassy: I know we tend to over dress newborns... and I didn't really know that rule... but its noted.

I don't layer with onesies, but when she was a newborn I would have her wear just a onesie.

I onsie all the time only b/c even if it's hot outside as soon as you step into an air conditioned room it gets cold. I don't want his belly to get cold, that's all. Also, I don't like how t-shirts bunch up on babies. I find myself constantly pulling it down.

i don't onesie. olive has been wearing dresses, rompers, tank tops with no onesie!

I didn't put anything on top of the onesie in the summer. She just wore that and pants.

@Andrea: @Mrs. Bee: I've been putting onesies under everything. her dresses, rompers, t-shirts, pjs... but I think that's overkill. And not to mention anything with no-sleeves is not fun. I only have 2 tank onesies.
Thanks!... i'll stop with the onesies.

Now that it's warm, I have him in a onesie all the time, mostly just a onesie. But not just the white ones, I buy the striped, patterned, colored packs from Carters, BRU, GAP etc. He mostly wears a onesie with shorts or pants and that's it. If it's REALLY warm he wears only a onesie.

@blushink: with dresses you could always just add bloomers to cover her up if that's what you're worried about!

I onesie because she's so small still. We're hardly outside and when it's hot out the ac is one indoors so I feel the onesie is necessary.

I'm still confused about when to onesie but I have been just to be safe in case she is cold!

I hate seeing a baby or toddler's back and diaper exposed, so if I am dressing my son in an outfit that could ride up or down, I put a onesie on him underneath.

I think the only time I put a onesie on DD was when it was part of the outfit she was wearing or that is all she was wearing. She was born in April but even in the winter I never did this extra layer, I'd just use a blanket. Why create more laundry for yourself if you don't have to.

I didn't know a onesie is an undershirt. Maybe it's just a boy thing, but all of my baby's look like t-shirts with cool prints on the front. So he wears a onesie every day, with either pants or shorts on top. When it's really hot, I sometimes have him just wear the onesie. If it's cold, I add a sweater on top, but that is rare.

I always put LO in a onesie if she's in a two-piece outfit (top and bottom). If she's NOT wearing a onesie then her top always rides up, which I don't like. If it's a one-piece (dress, romper, etc.) then no onesie.

@cvbee- I didn't know it was an umdershirt either lol. I usually have her in a onesie around the house and then when we are out she wears dresses, rompers, etc. I feel like maybe I would have figured it out tho if we were in the middle of winter... Maybe.... I always have a muslin blanket with me though.

@Rubies: Ya, now that i think about it that would be my rule too... now that I think about it. I hate shirts riding up ...

I'm confused too. I usually put a onesie under all his clothes because he's so small.

@krsmall: well i think any baby under 7 lbs, I'd be inclined to put a onesie.
