Man do I hate talking about poop in "public" but I need some ideas because our ped just says "give her juice" and I want to know if there are other options.

My LO is 16mo and has struggled with constipation ever since she started eating more solid food. She does not eat very much of the BRAT diet at all. She used to drink whole milk but doesn't anymore (just water and juice right now). She eats yogurt most days (2-4oz) and gets cheese 1-2 times/day (I upped it when she quit milk to get more fat/calcium in her diet). I DO try to feed her high fiber foods, lots of fruits and veggies especially pears, plums, peas and berries.

And still. We give her about 4oz of pear juice every morning and that is juuuuust enough to keep things mostly normal. If we skip a day she is immediately constipated. If she eats half a banana or an extra serving of cheese, same.

I try to get her to drink as much water as I can but I can't force it (she drinks maybe 10-15 oz water/day now that she is off milk).

I guess if we have to keep giving her juice it's fine... but it seems like we shouldn't HAVE to do that just to keep things running.

Anyone have any success with any other dietary changes? Or any other suggestions?
