OK I need some expert advice. My son is three years old and has never been a good sleeper. I can count on one hand the number of times he has slept through the night. Most of it we have attributed to his tonsils and adenoids which we got removed. However lately we are thinking he has nightmares. He wakes up crying and screaming, but he doesn't even really open his eyes. This is happening four or five times a night and he is inconsolable. My husband and I have taken to sleeping on his floor almost every night and it is exhausting. Any advice for how he can self soothe?

Also, possibly related, in the last two weeks or so he's been talking about birds being on his back. He is constantly tell me there are birds there and they're pecking at him and hurting him and mad at him. Obviously there's nothing there. He does not say this only a bedtime he will say at random times throughout the day. At this point I'm attributing it to nightmares that he's remembering although I would love advice on that as well.

Full disclosure we do watch television. However he is pretty much limited to Paw patrol and pj masks, as well as some Disney movies. when I think over the things he has watched I had cannot think of anything that had birds in it and he doesn't watch any television that I have not seen.
