My DD's reflux was actually caused by a posterior tongue tie and upper lip tie. If I hadn't fought to get it diagnosed by going to a specialist after our pediatrician ruled it out and simply upped her Zantac dose, we would probably still be dealing with reflux at 16 mos. Has your LO been checked for ties?

Any diet change or new foods that might be aggravating it? I know as an adult my reflux is pretty well under control unless I eat something that aggravates it (too much fried foods for example).

We have a toddler with reflux too, but never had a period where it went away. Besides from being on a really high dose of Prevacid, we basically do the same and keep him vertical while he is refluxing. He also silent refluxes in his sleep and it's the worst hearing him choke like that. I know it's a long shot but I'm actually going to start using the Baltic amber teething jewelry again to see if it helps any. There are claims that it does help reflux and we always noticed a difference before, but we stopped wearing it as he has a full set of teeth now.

We stopped feeding reflux no-nos at dinner and saw an improvement, at least for night time. So, now she has lower fat, some-what bland, no fruit, no dairy dinners.

The problem with reflux diets, IMO, is that they are too limiting and too low in fat for babies, but we manage to do it for one meal and it helped.

@brownie: great tip! Reflux gets even grosser and smellier with age....my living room carpet will never be the same
