Up until two weeks ago, bath time was my daughter's favorite time of the day. Now, she screams bloody murder anytime we even attempt a bath. She will be 17 months in a couple of days and I don't understand what has changed. Nothing scary happened during her last bath, I took her to the doctor to make sure nothing was hurting we and now I am at a total lost. We have tried taking baths with her, playing in the tub without water, playing in the sink, taking a shower with me and now I have resorted to sponge baths but she even hates those. It dawned on me yesterday that maybe she hates being naked now so I am going to try a swim diaper and swimsuit next go round but I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions. I am not forcing the bath issue because I don't want to make it worse so I am only attempting every few days. Something has got to give though because this kid is going to start to stink.

Liv went through a bath strike when she was about 10 months old. We just offered her a bath nightly to see if she wanted to get back in and eventually made her. We tried new bubble baths (mr bubble foaming soap is a huge hit. She can hold it and like mold it) We did bath crayons and new toys and eventually it ended and shes back to her favorite part of the day (knock on wood.) Give it time, itll pass soon. Maybe she is starting to associate it with bedtime and doesnt want to go to sleep yet?

@LivsMama: thanks for your input! The bubble bath sounds like a great idea, I will try that also. My daughter is a great sleeper, she loves going to sleep. I ask if she is ready for night-night and she walks straight to her room to grab her lovey and then she goes right to sleep so I don't think it is the association with bedtime. I am also going to look for bath crayons.

@MrsHotDog: No problem! We just did everything to make it a fun, new experience. We especially like California Babies Bubble Bath , because they come with a wand to actually blow bubbles. So while Liv is in the tubby, we will blow bubbles and let her try to catch them. She thinks its pretty darn cool (shes almost 17 months.)
ETA - sorry, I used the word "bubbles" entirely too many times there lol

@LivsMama: How long does one of those containers of bubbles last? Does a little go a long way?

@Thehistoryofus: theyre pricey, but we've had ours for awhile. I usually use 1 capful for regular bubbles, and 2 for mega bubbles about 3 times a week, max. and I blow bubbles (again with the copious using of the word bubbles lol) with the wand every night. Id say we've had one bottle for a month now, and there is probably 1/4 of the bottle left. IMO, they last long enough to justify the price, plus dont have any icky chemicals in them and are totally safe.
