Wish me luck! LO just turned 2 about a week ago.
We started nap time weaning on Friday and *knockonwood* it's been going pretty well.
Planning on weaning bedtime nursing tonight.
Will appreciate tips, good luck and courage to follow through!
Thanks!

Good luck. DH has been doing bedtime so I haven't nursed at night for 3 weeks. I put her to bed a couple of nights ago and she didn't ask to nurse. She still asks for it at naptime on the weekends and some mornings. In the morning I distract her with waffles! Haha. I can't get away from naptime yet and that's fine.

Good luck! I'm weaning my 22 month old. She's down to a brief nurse first thing in the morning and at night before bed but only needs it when I'm around. I don't offer in the morning and sometimes she skips it. Like yesterday, I offered it to her and she said no. I've been distracting her when she asks other times with snacks or a cup of milk.
My DH and I are going to away for five days without her and I think she'll be done with it when I'm back...or so I hope

@skipra: Night 1 went a lot better than expected. WAY better.
I told her no "boo boo" and she cried for like a minute. I told her "we are just rocking. do you want to go in your bed" she said no, mom. So we rocked and I sang for about 8 minutes. Then she climbed off me and climbed into her bed and asked me to sit next to her. We do this regularly. I was just about getting ready to leave when I noticed she pooped!!! LOL
So I had to turn the lights back on and change her diaper. She asked for boo boo again but I said no, climb back your bed. So she did. She started getting drowsy within minutes so I got up to go out and she turned and looked at me. So I kissed her good night and she started crying. But I left. She cried for maybe a minute and stopped.
That was way too easy. I'm expecting next few nights to be harder. We started bedtime at 7:52 and I was out at 8:20. Not bad!

@locavore_mama: Wow I hope it continues to go so smoothly! You never know, she may be ready to give it up without a fight. Hoping today goes just as well! Thanks for the update.

@locavore_mama: Just did this, too!
What helped is the longer you go without the saltier the breast milk gets (don't know why) and so when I caved one day she didn't even like it!
We were down to once each evening before I shut off the faucet completely and it was totally harder on me than her
Hang in there!

@locavore_mama: I wrote my post before I read yours and obviously should just talk to you about weaning. AAAAH. This is going to be miserable.
