C has started to grab on to toys and wave them around. I bought him a plastic Bright Starts rattle, and he loves it! ...loves it so much he was waving it around and smacked himself in the forehead. He has a little welt now. Ughhh I should have realized that would happen! Has your LO ever hurt themselves with a toy?

Bahah yeah LO has reached that point, too. She whops herself in the face daily with her toys. It seems to surprise her more than hurt her though, so I let her be. I figure she'll understand eventually NOT to do it!
ETA laughing because it happened to my LO too, not at yours being hurt!

C hasn't done it yet, but when I was babysitting my nephew when he was 4 months old I gave him a board book to play with while I changed his diaper. He smacked himself in the face with the corner and cried. I felt so bad.

Haha - yes, L did the same thing all the time! I eventually had to get her a soft rattle because she wouldn't stop hitting herself on the forehead!

@Bookish: Haha, he didn't even get upset either! Just kind of whimpered and went back to playing. I was the one who freaked!

If I had a dollar for every time S whacked himself/pinched himself/dropped a toy on himself I would be a rich lady!

Poor guy! But yes, DD is constantly smacking herself with whatever is in her hands...and sometimes just her hands when she is really excited about something lol. She doesn't seem to mind though.

Aw... Poor little guy.
My DD used to whack herself all the time. Especially when she would be tugging on something (like her blanket stuck between the cushions) and she would whack herself in the face. I actually think it's funny. The look on her face was priceless. Like "Who did that???"

Yup, D does it constantly. Never fazes him, though.
