My daughter absolutely loved playing with a dollhouse at a friends' house, so we figured a dollhouse would be a huge hit at home. But after we got one, she never played with it! Not sure whether or not to sell it, or to wait and see if she becomes interested in playing with it at a later point.
But overall, that would probably be our biggest toy purchase that turned out to be a complete bust!

The Trumpette Howdy Cow. We didn't buy it for DS but it was a first birthday gift and for some reason it freaked him out. He would cry if you tried to get him to play with it. He's almost two now and tolerates it being around but won't use it. Total bust!

LO got a ride on car for Christmas from my ILs that lights up and makes noise. He is terrified of it. Hopefully he will warm up to it at some point.

I just got him a puzzle and he wanted nothing to do with it.
I would keep the doll house! I was really into mine in elementary school.

Not a total bust, but her kitchen doesn't get much play. Basically, she hides things in the cupboards that she doesn't want us to take from her (markets, lip gloss, leftover food sometimes).

Dollhouse was a bust for my DD too... Got it when she was 4 and she's 6.5 now with little interest ever unless her younger brother is playing with it and she gets possessive. I should just put it in his room...

Little people Klip Klop castle, she played with it like twice and got bored. It doesn't really do much. And then a tent and tunnel, she will not go in it no matter what.

The tricycle with the handle. We have to put the car back seats down to get it in the boot so we never take it to the park with us! She's used it maybe four times!

@coopsmama: we also got that cow as a gift, but it's so dangerous! Kids always fall off of it (even bigger ones).
Ours is probably a tent, we got the circus tent from Ikea and no one plays in it. It also takes up a lot of room, so I should probably just sell it.

The ride on toy was a bust for us - she can't figure out how to use her legs to make it move. Luckily I had bought a cheapo second hand one to try before I was planning to buy a nicer one. The other toy that was a complete bust was the Fisher Price popcorn popper thing. I thought she would be obsessed with it but all she does it bang it into my walls and then drop it

I bought a penguin bath toy that blows bubbles and they are terrified of it. It seems to have made them deathly afraid of bubbles. We were at story time yesterday and the storyteller blew bubbles and Alice flipped out.

@mrbee: we packed up a hand me down doll house for the same reason. Maybe when she's older like @mrskc: said!
@Mrs. Oatmeal: luckily I got our play kitchen from a garage sale and was able to resell it. Total bust. From HB though I felt like I was doing my kid a disservice not having a play kitchen!
@808love: D loves this when we see it at Costco and stuff but I really feel like it wouldn't get used that much if it were at home!

Little Tikes slide. LO liked it at my SILs house so she sent me home with it because my nephew refused to try it even once. She's been on it maybe 4 times.

Play tent--don't think she ever goes in there apart from to hide from us!
Rocking horse--not a complete waste but she only goes on it maybe once a week for a few minutes! But it was expensive 
Fisher Price Little People--fortunately my parents bought both of her garage and house sets, but she has barely touched them.
Aquadoodle--doesn't want to draw, she just wants to chew the pen

We bought a Bilibo, because I heard it was a great imaginitive toy that kids loved. My son hates it. He doesn't touch it or play with it at all. It's just a useless giant bowl on our floor.

We don't buy too many toys but one thing we got for Christmas that neither of them touches is the laugh. & learn puppy. They also received the My Scout that is similar and sometimes gets used for bedtime music but otherwise also ignored.

The scooter was a bit of a bust. DS was totally obsessed with them at one point, and would borrow other kids' scooters at the playground and cry a puddle when he had to give them back. His own... not so interested!

The IL's gave DS hug me Elmo for his second birthday and he is terrified of it. He calls it big Elmo since it is almost the size him. He's maybe played with it a few minutes and won't let us turn it on.

I cant bring myself to get rid of it all just yet though!

So far the only thing DD hasn't taken to are bubbles.. LOL.. we are lucky, she makes her rounds and plays with just about everything. We also have two different play areas so we switch up her location occasionally and it's like she found new toys all over again!

Play kitchen...it gets some use as a storage shed for trains and cars, this year I am moving it out to the pool for water play, then into the recycling bin at the end of the season.

Update: Bee got our daughter some different dolls for the dollhouse, and now she plays with it all the time! Phew, glad we held onto it!!

@mr.bee were the dolls smaller? It took LO longer than expected to get into her dollhouse.

@808love: They were about the same size, but showed a rabbit family instead of a human one. For whatever reason, she likes the rabbits better!
