I'm back at work now after a 3 month period of sick leave (exhaustion in pregnancy + work related stress). I've only been back three days but I'm already noticing the stress symptoms returning in the evenings.

I work full time, in a very stressful job, with a long commute (50 mile round trip) on a heavily congested stretch of motorway. Im always rushing! I also do all drop offs and pick ups. E eats at daycare so I don't have to feed her. We have an hour together before she goes to bed and she's very demanding during that time.

I've noticed that I struggle to transition from my stressful day into parent mode. I am bursting to tell DH what happened at work, its how we've always decompressed, but talking with E around is impossible! Im also really hungry, but eat after she has gone to bed (if i snack, i dont want dinner). I find myself wishing away the time until she goes to bed and not being as patient as I could. And, oh god, the TV she watches grates on my every nerve.

How do other working parents manage this? What tips and tricks do you have that I could implement? Im doing well managing my stress during the day, but I need to crack this one. Thank you!
