We are going on vacation in August for a week and the cabin that we are staying in doesn't have bathtubs. Up until this point, my son has only taken baths at night. He will be almost 15 months old when we go. Does anyone have any suggestions on transitioning him to the shower?

I don't have a little one yet but I would say that probably the best way to transition him would be for you or your husband to just bring him in with you when you take a shower. I would think as long as he's being held and talked through it, it wouldn't be scary for him. You just got hold on tight to his slippery little body : )

can you try taking a shower with him while your still at home? he may love it, or he may hate it. you could always grab an inflatable tub to bring with you and sick it in the shower for him to bath in, either filing it with a pitcher or if you can aim the shower to fill it. for <$10 it may be worth it to grab one to bring with you just incase he doesn't like the shower.

I obviously don't remember when I was transitioned, but I remember when my sister was transitioned. My mom let her get in the shower with me (I am 4 years older), so I would imagine that I just got in the shower with my mom, since I didn't have an older sibling. She hated it at first, but we figured out it was because the shampoo stung her eyes, so we put goggles on her, and it totally helped!

My 16 month old screams and cries when we stand him in the shower and use a hand shower (on the soft setting) to rinse him off so I'd definitely suggest trying to take a shower with your son at home first and you can demonstrate how great/fun the shower is. My sister's kids stayed with our dad for a week this past spring and he only had a shower but her kids took to it with no problem. With her daughter (the youngest, around 18 months) he would have her stand out of the spray of the shower and soap her up and then have her carefully back up into the stream of water to rinse as needed. It became a game. He said it took some convincing but she ended up loving it.

This is what we did for my cousin-in-laws. We put the tub in the shower at home so that the water sprays into the tub (place the tub where the spray only hits half of it) and let them "play" in the tub. When it was time to rinse off the soap, we told them to go under the water stream. They didn't mind it since their tub was overflowing with water and they LOVED that.
