What signs did your LO display when they were ready to go from 2-1 Naps? And what ages? I ask because LO at least half the time is resistant to morning nap. Not sure which a a fluke! Today for example he skipped t altogether and wouldn't go down until around noon!

LO was around 11 months when she started the transition to 1 nap. She would go down for a morning nap so easily, but then refuse her afternoon nap and be up for 7-8 hours before bed, leading to a cranky overtired baby! For a few weeks I would cap the morning nap to 45 minutes tops, so she would be tired enough to take a second nap. Then she started fighting bedtime and waking up early in the morning, and also started fighting her morning nap, so I just pushed her to stay up later in the morning until she was taking 1 nap around 12/1.
It took a awhile for her to transition completely to 1 nap, probably a month or so? Now she is taking 1 nap from around 12:30-2:30, goes to bed around 6:30/7, and sleeps until 7/7:30. Her night sleep lengthened when she got used to 1 nap as well, which was a plus.

He was about 13 or 14 months. He started with refusing to nap in the afternoon (he would normally nap 1.5 hours). He would just roll around and play in his crib for an hour and then whine until I got him. That lasted for a week and then the next week he started to refuse napping in the morning, which was very unusual for him. So I started delaying his morning nap by a half hour and skipping the afternoon nap altogether. It was a rough few weeks but we just kept delaying the morning nap by a half hour or so each week. It was weird for awhile because he would eat a light lunch around 11, then go down for a nap, then eat again when he woke up.
Now he's 18 months and naps from 12:45 until 2ish every day. Everyone told me he would do a longer nap if they were combined and that didn't happen for my LO - he went from taking two 1.5 hour naps to just one each day (2 hours on a really good day). His nighttime sleep increased by about a half hour, as he goes to bed earlier at 7:15 now instead of 7:45.

My 13 MO is still on two one hour naps. I would love to consolidate these, sometimes she skips her afternoon naps... she still seems so sleepy at 9 am though that I have trouble pushing it back just yet.

We're getting close to consolidating down to one nap. The past holiday week has been so full of activity that he hasn't been able to get his second nap. For us, the problem has been that he's been taking the morning nap, not the second nap. I don't know how we're going to switch that around in the future.

@Mammabare: LO stopped taking his second nap at 10.5m, no matter what. He took one early nap for a while, with a super early bed time, and then slowly bumped it later around 12.5 months. Now he takes one, roughly 2 hour, nap at 1 pm which is great. When I tried moving it later on my terms instead of his, his nap just got shorter.

@kml636: her sleep got awesome when she finally got used to being on 1 nap. we were dealing with some early wakings not too long ago so I am enjoying it while it lasts, although I fully expect it to get messed up when we go on vacation in 2 days! ha

DD was about 13 months and absolutely wouldn't go down for her afternoon nap. Eventually I just moved her morning nap farther back until it was around 12-1 and she's been good!

DS was 13.5 months and prior to that he was going down easily for a 1-1.5 hour nap in the morning and a 1.5-2 hour nap in the afternoon. Right before we transitioned he was only sleeping for 30ish minutes in the morning and an hour in the afternoon. One day I decided to try to switch to just one afternoon nap and I put him down at noon. He slept for 3 hours! Sooo he's been on one nap ever since
