Personally id be skeeved out by a hotel crib and take it so LO has a consistent spot and sheets that smell like home! Could you put it in an extra bag to protect it?

ETA- she is still itty bitty I know, have you thought about like a travel bassinet?? We used the summers infant by your side travel bassinet until LO was too big because we were moving. It folded up very small.

i always take our own. you can't take the babybjorn on the plane because it's too long -- you have to check it in. if you're worried about losing it, you could buy something like the gocrib which does fit in your carry-on.

We travel quite a lot and have used both the Bjorn and hotel cribs. Honestly, we've never had hygiene problems with hotel cribs, although I always take LO's sleep sack or blankies or AA swaddles to add to the crib for something familiar.

One thing to look out for is if the airline is going to charge you for the crib. We just came back from traveling in Asia and Austrian Airlines let us check the crib for free on the way there. However, on the way back the were going to make us pay $150 to check it! They ended up letting us carry it on for free instead of check it, but I would have been really upset to have to pay that much to check the crib.

If you can confirm that all of your hotels/ship has cribs, I would leave the Bjorn behind. They honestly aren't that bad.

@Mrs. Bee our Bjorn fit in the overhead compartment. I guess it just depends on the size of the plane.

@shopaholic: just be careful with what the airline says. Since we took Austrian Airlines from Austria, they knew the "rules" better than the local employees we dealt with when we returned from Bangkok. Even though I tried pleading with the lady and explained that we didn't pay anything on the way there, she was really not interested in helping us. But I am grateful that she did finally let us carry on.
