My husband and I are driving to Florida from Tennessee (10.5 hours without a LO) next month when LO will be nearly 8 months old. Is there anything I should know to make the car ride easier? I worry about her being in the carseat for so long and getting bored/cranky, so we are planning on breaking up the trip into 2 days.

We drove from MD to MA (usually a 7 hour drive with no baby) when LO was almost 8 months and it took 10 hours! I suggest you leave right before LOs second nap. Bring an iPad or something to let LO watch a show, and lots of toys. We had to stop a lot to let LO play. Good idea breaking it up into two days!

Yup, exploit naptimes and try to do a good chunk of driving after bed , too!

I suggest driving through the night as much as possible. It's not the most fun for parents, but it's so much easier on the baby! We did a 12 hour drive with our then 7.5 month old at Christmas. On the way down we left at bedtime and she slept the entire way. On the way back we left at her second nap. She napped in the car, then we stopped for dinner and stretching, then back on the road at bedtime. She slept the whole way. The trip home was much easier on us than the trip there.
