you can gate check your stroller. they won't let an umbrella stroller on the plane. i wouldn't travel with your hefty stroller. you can buy a cheap one for like $40? you can borrow my umbrella stroller if you want... charlie rarely uses his stroller, and we have the city mini anyway.

i would suggest buying lots of little cheap little toys and wrapping them in tissue paper or something and giving it to her every 20 min or so to keep her occupied. masking tape or stickers are also great! at that age she can prolly watch dvds too.

Most likely the airline is going to request you check your large stroller as baggage (along with charging a fee). An umbrella style stroller can be gate checked.

Wearing the baby is a great option to get through the airport.

Mrs. Bee had a great idea about the toys. Along with DVD's, coloring books etc.

Also remember to pack snacks (something that doesn't smell).

I just got back from a carribean vacay with my LO (11 months). It wss 3 hours, she slept for half of it so we only had to keep her entertained for 1.5 hours which wasn't so bad. I think snacks are key! Keeps their hands, mouth and eyes busy. My daughter doesn't care much for toys so the little things I got didn't hold her attn long. Instead she loved playing with the armrest and buttons.

We gate checked out lightweight stroller. I didnt feel like wrestling with a big heavy stroller thru the airport and on vacay. In addition with luggage, diaper bags and handbags. And remember you have to Get your stroller scanned on the belt as well so anything that's gonna take time to fold and unfold is just a hassle I could do without. Any liquids you have for the baby (juice,milk) can be taken through security but will be checked. Keep them in a ziplock bag separate and ready to give to security.

We got our passports expedited. We needed to get official certified copies of her birth certificate, itinerary, both parents show up at the agency for minors.

Some airlines have limits on the size and weight of the stroller you can gate check, so double check on that. They're also starting to care if you pack extra stuff in the bag with the stroller, because lots of people try to treat it like another free bag and they get heavy!

You can ask for your stroller to be hand checked if it's a PITA to put on the belt or if you are travelling alone. I've done it a few times, no one's given me any trouble about it.

Most of all, just try to relax, most people are really understanding about travel with children!
