Seems like "Make America White Again" would be a more appropriate campaign slogan 🙄

He sucks.
But a lot of people on here seem like they support the gun legislation that uses the terror watch list as prevention to gun access. While it's unclear what exactly makes someone get on that list, my guess is there's a decent amount of racial profiling that goes into it.

So he's in favor of profiling the group which commits to the most gun massacres - aka, white American males? Oh....right.

@yoursilverlining: haha, right?
This is hardly surprising. He's a racist a-hole. Of course he wants to use racial profiling.
What IS surprising is that there are there are so many other racist a-holes that voted for him...

@Adira: This exactly. I never knew there were so many racist a-holes in America until this guy got the nomination..

@looch: I think the NRA distanced themself from Trump after he suggested the Orlando massacre victims should have had guns. The NRA doesn't support drunk people using guns.
@Adira: people are scared and he rode this fear all the way to the nomination.
I hope people don't take this profiling and policing in their own hands. It's bad enough when we have over zealous cops.

Of COURSE he does. What an asshole. Every single time he opens his mouth I become more and more afraid for our country.

Of course he thinks this. The idiotic is strong with this one.
I fear for our country.

@Truth Bombs: @Adira: What surprises me are the Trump supporters that I work with and that are in my family. I live in a conservative area, so I have to keep my mouth shut about politics most of the time. It's disheartening and infuriating. When someone who I thought was a good person says they support Trump, I just want to be like, "I have so much love and respect for you! Why are you doing this to me?!!"

@looch: I don't think he's done very much fundraising at all. The NRA endorsed Trump last Friday (even if they don't agree with his comments), so I'm sure he'll be getting quite a chunk from them. They'll do anything to keep a democrat out, even if it's to support Trump.

I'm Canadian and don't generally follow any politics....but this Trump thing seems unreal to me as everything I read I think, this cannot be real?
Even what @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: said "The NRA doesn't support drunk people using guns.",
......it's ludicrous that this even needs to be said!

@magnoliamama42: I didn't think he had at all either, I thought he was spending his own money to campaign.
But I would have thought the NRA would have given him something, just to get him on their side.

@looch: He has been, but that's going to have to change quick for the main election. He loaned his campaign $50mil and he's raised another $15mil. A lot of that has been used to repay his own companies or for his family's travel (he's not doing tv ads). He *says* he's not going to ask for that money back, but ...
He's got to get to $1billion before November. Forbes says he's worth about $4.5billion (and a lot of that's tied up in properties, etc.). Should be interesting ...
His campaign tried to get him to call 20 wealthy donors last week, but he only got through 3 before he quit. Looks like the GOP is going to have to do most of the work for him.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@magnoliamama42: Maybe he figures he'll just get plenty of free advertising through the media with all the outrageous things he says!
cherry / 174 posts
@Adira: Girl, I know. Our TV has been off a lot more lately, and I've completely tuned out of news radio - all due to Trump! They give him SO MUCH free press. I'm sick of hearing about it. I will say, it's forced us to have music on more than usual, and it's actually kinda nice.
wonderful pear / 26210 posts
@magnoliamama42: question is, will they? I mean, he has the nomination, are they giving him enough rope to hang himself?
I could only imagine how those phone calls went. I bet he got all frustrated asking people for stuff because he's usually on the other end of the phone in those converstations, lol. I've got to think that he will use loans against his real estate and possibly his investment portfolios to come up with some cash.
cherry / 174 posts
@looch: I think the GOP is worried that, if he uses his own money, any money the GOP *does* raise will end up being used to pay Trump back. The money he contributed to the campaign is not listed as non-refundable campaign contributions, it's listed as loans. As of his latest campaign finance filing, anyway. There's a chance he won't lose a dime in this, and the GOP would have to pay him back + interest.
Also, I'm sure many of them are thinking that, if there's a chance he could splinter the Republican party, just let Clinton win and then take over the House and Senate over the next few years, block everything she tries to push through, and recoup/figure out how to get their sh*t together for 2020.
He's only got 73 paid staffers, he's running on a shoe-string budget, and he can't stomach the idea of having to ask other people for money. I don't know who his next campaign manager is going to be - but this general election will probably take 10 years off their life, at least! I can't imagine having to deal with that man and his family on a daily basis.

Thoughtful piece by Aziz Ansari: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/26/opinion/sunday/aziz-ansari-why-trump-makes-me-scared-for-my-family.html?_r=1

I liked that piece by Aziz. The comments on Facebook were horrifying though. So many people who support Trump are uniformed and say the most hateful things. I'm most disappointed that A) Trump's campaign has made Americans feel like it's okay be racist/assholes out in public and B) People I love are talking about voting for him and just ignore his hateful words completely.
