I'm looking for experiences with TTC while nursing! Was it any different than TTC the first time? Did it seem to be easier or harder? If you ended up conceiving, did it cause any issues with your pregnancy? I hear conflicting things about whether or not it's safe to nurse while pregnant. I know some of you bees had success though!

@Bao: I think it may depend on how regular your cycle is. For the first six months of my cycle being back (while still nursing) my cycle was a bit varied going from heavy to light and regular to short.

@T.H.O.U.: It seemed to be pretty regular the past couple of months, until this month of course. I just fear I will get burnt out if we continue ntnp or ttc and it doesn't happen because I'm nursing still...if that makes sense?

@Bao: I got ya. We were NTNP since November-ish which wasn't a bit deal until now that I think about trying for more than six months (a few were the mc though). Time has gone by fast but now I kinda am getting discouraged.

@Bao: I can say that I'm really glad I was charting my cycles so I at least could start seeing a pattern.

@T.H.O.U.: I was charting as far as cycle length, but nothing else. I have an app I was keeping track of when AF was due but I don't think it was really correct as to when it said I was ovulating. I would like to wait to use opks because I really want to continue going with the flow, at least for the summer!

I know quite a few moms in my ap moms group that are still nursing & got pregnant... Some of them by surprise (6 -18 mths after having their first lo) and some intentionally ttc.
I'm still kind of nervous to see how this goes for us though!

@runsyellowlites: Yeah see I hear of it happening often too, but for some reason I feel like for myself it's going to be a challenge.

I had no problem with it (used OPKs/took 4 months) but was only nursing 1-2x/day when we were TTC/got pregnant. My son stopped on his own when I was 4 weeks preg so I can't speak to nursing while pregnant but know of plenty of others who have. From what I understand it's totally fine unless there are preterm labor concerns?

We got pregnant while breastfeeding! We NTNP for about five months but got pregnant our very first cycle trying. My cycles were 55-60 days long....I got my period at 11 weeks PP. I am almost 16 weeks pregnant and am still nursing and my supply has not dropped yet.

It was impossible for me--I didn't resume my cycles until 2 months after I stopped nursing, at 10.5 months post partum.

I got pregnant with Lorelei while still nursing Ellie. Once I got regular cycles back after coming off of Depo, it seemed about the same. At first we were more NTNP-- not charting or trying to TI or anything. Then the month I got pregnant was the second month we were paying more attention, and the first month when our timing seemed good. As for nursing while pregnant, I pretty much completely dried up, so it was more just comfort nursing than any kind of nutrition until I started to get colostrum. I didn't have any complications or problems with nursing while pregnant, although towards the very end I would often get BH when I was nursing. My midwife said that was very normal and not to worry about it.

We started TTC when LO was 5 months old (as soon as AF came back). The first couple cycles my luteal phase was really short, but the third cycle I got pregnant. My supply dropped pretty much as soon as I got pregnant, but I didn't really realize it for a couple months since I wasn't pumping. LO was nursing more often, waking up more at night, and eating tons of solids. I switched to formula at about 13 weeks pregnant. For me, being pregnant and nursing such a young baby was just too much. I was losing weight despite eating an absolutely ridiculous amount of food (like, more than twice what I usually ate) and I was waking up multiple times a night absolutely starving and thirsty. My midwife said it was fine to bf while pregnant though. From what I have read, as long as you have no complications and you are not having twins, it's perfectly healthy.

I got pregnant while nursing. Not actually TTC but NTNP. It only took one try. And I nursed my oldest until I was 7 months pregnant when he weaned and I dried up.

I'm currently 7 weeks pregnant and still nursing DS (14 months) a ton. I got my period back in January, my cycles ranged from 21 to 35 days but I would still ovulate on the same CD. I couldn't track my temp because DS still got up to nurse at night, but I tracked CM and got OPKs. We got pregnant within a week of my hubby getting back from deployment.
As long as you're healthy enough to have sex, you can nurse. The hormones that are released while nursing (that people say can send you into labor) are minimal compared to those released when you get it on.
I've had no problem with supply yet, but my nipples are killing me, which sucks.
I know multiple women who nursed successfully through their entire pregnancy.

I have no advice since she weaned herself at 13 months but can I just say I'm so excited you are TTC!!!!
