No personal experience, but I am under the impression that there is a medication you can take to help normalize your levels? How high was your prolactin? What did your doctor suggest?
I have hypothyroidism, but now it is being completely managed by synthroid.

Do you know what your prolactin level was? I had very high prolactin due to a pituitary tumor (benign) which was diagnosed years ago. I do not ovulate on my own without medication. When I was not ttc, it was managed well with cabergoline. When I started ttc I had to switch to bromocriptine (safe if you become pregnant) and it took a few months of adjusting the meds to get my prolactin back in a good range. Unfortunately I'm still ttc, but I'm not sure if this is due to that condition or not. Don't hesitate to ask questions or wall me if you'd like.

I chimed in on this recent post about prolactin. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/trouble-ttc-elevated-prolactin-levels
I would think the next step would be an MRI to rule out a tumor (don't worry--even if it is a tumor, they are almost always benign).

@pui: I was kind of ringing up for my results on shift so didn't have time to ask much apart from if the doctor wanted to see me again so I don't know what they are only that she wanted to see me about it. It's driving me mad now that I didn't think to ask but could't be on the phone long and it took me by surprise a bit. Got to wait until Christmas eve now and what some idea as to whether this cycle is a bust for a start!

@mrs. 64: I think I'm ovulating but with a tendency to a short lp and very light periods plus I do get very sore nipples which I wonder is something to do with it? Did the drugs have any side effects? Just looked them up in my BNF and they look pretty nasty on paper! Has it been a while since you got the levels right? Hope it happens soon for you!
@raintreebee: thanks for the link

@Snowdrop: Thanks! I do know that I ovulate now due to the meds. Since coming off bc, my lp was consistently 9-10 days. My prolactin finally got regulated on the bromocriptine in August and since then my lp has been lengthening. This past cycle it was 13 days. I think there is a correlation.
Cabergoline wasn't too bad but I had a lot of side effects with bromocriptine for the first 6 weeks or so (bad nausea). I went on in March and didn't get my prolactin regulated until August (they kept having to bump up the dose), but I think things would have moved faster if I was working with an RE at that time and not just a regular endocrinologist. Best wishes to you too, and let me know if you have any more questions.

@mrs. 64: thank you. Seems like bromocriptine is the only one safe for pregnancy so if I'm getting treatment at least I know what to expect. Feel lots better now
