So... since we're on our 7th ear infection in 10 months, we're thinking we might have to get tubes.
Has anyone had this? What was the reason? How old was your LO?

If your ENT recommends it don't be scared. It a very quick procedure and relatively painless in the grand scheme of things. My son had his first set of tubes at 8 months old and just got his second set plus adenoids removed at 20 months old. It made a huge difference for my son. At 8 months old it drastically improved his balance and hearing and he was able to catch up on his verbal milestones in relatively short order. He had 4 ear infections in 2 months and they were quickly becoming resistant to the different strengths of amoxicillian so his pediatrician recommended we consult with a pediatric ENT to check his hearing and what else might be going on. His second set of tubes were placed because as soon as the first set came out (exactly like they are supposed to) he started getting ear infections again so the ENT recommended a second set plus adenoids removed.

We got them for DD around 18 mo. She had gone through so many antibiotics due to ear infections that the dr said there were none more to use effectively. The procedure was 5 min and a breeze. Best thing we ever did for her. After that when she got a cold, it just stayed a cold and didn't turn into an ear infection!

I had them myself. Anything that lessens ear infections is so worth it! I remember the day I got them out...but only because I got cotton candy flavored sleeping gas.
