What's the best car seat configuration for a RFing 13mo (convertible seat) and FFing 3.5 yo in a sedan? Daycare and our potential preschool are on busy narrow streets with parking parallel to the street.
Is it feasible to have LO1 FFing behind the driver and crawl over/under a RFing convertible to the sidewalk? That's my current plan but I don't want to get it wrong and have to move the seats once installed. The RFing a Chicco Nextfit in an Accord.

We have my daughter FF in the middle and then my son RF behind the passenger. Technically yes she can crawl under the RF seat to get out but we dont have the seat tethered and its in a minivan so large clear walk ways.

How would the toddler get buckled in and unbuckled? Maybe you could unbuckled from the front seat but you will need to stand over him to buckle him in, right?
We have the FF seat behind the driver for the extra leg room. But I still have to stand on both sides for buckling kids in.

@Foodnerd81: Yes, I will have to stand in the street to buckle the toddler. I do this now with our van but there's more space for me to tuck in the car if she's still squirming after the 10 second traffic break. In the sedan I think I'll just have to work 10 seconds at a time.
@T.H.O.U.: Yeah, we have this set up in the minivan so she has space. I'm not sure if it will work in the sedan. Maybe she could crawl to the front?

Why don't you just swap their seats? You can get out the baby on the street side, then go around and unbuckle your older LO who can climb on on the curb side.
Another suggestion is to keep the seats as they are, unbuckle your older LO, walk around to the other side of the car WITH them, and then get your younger LO out of their seat.

@Corduroy: Actually, if you're able to buckle her in the middle seat, I think what you mentioned would be a great idea. If she can climb to the front seat, and then wait for you to open the door after you get your 13mo out, it seems like it would be a lot less stressful and more safe.
And she would probably enjoy the act of climbing into the front seat. Lol.

I have my RF 3.5 year old behind the driver and my RF 1.5 year old behind the passenger. She climbs in under the 1.5 seat and gets in her seat and buckles her chest buckle while I strap in her sister.

I do the exact same as @oliviaoblivia. I've parked on some really busy main roads and it's easier for my 4.5 year old (FF) to go through the same side as her 20 month old brother (RF) and wait for me to come around.

If you live in a place with winter weather I'd reconsider having your toddler do any climbing. It wouldn't be much fun to get salt and slush everywhere. Could you put one of them in the middle and the other next to the door so you could potentially use the third seat near one of the doors to sit down inside the car to buckle everyone? I do this just because of crummy weather, if my toddler is refusing to get buckled I'm much calmer if I'm not getting poured on while standing in traffic.

I've been working with the new setup for a few weeks. I figured out that moving the passenger seat all the way forward gives LO1 enough room to walk through the back seat. Easy!
