@Arden - you're definitely not too late to start using them, maybe even a little early. I'd start now if I were you (since its your first month using them). Keep using one daily until you get a positive, then a negative the next day.

@Mrs.Someone: k, thanks!
One more question - is it true that I need to allow the urine to reach room temperature before testing, or can I test it right away?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@Arden - I've never heard that before! I personally prefer to dip, then dump it out ASAP

@Mrs.Someone: Have you used the digital OPK's?
I never get more than one positive. The box says not to take any other ones once you get a positive but I wonder why you wouldn't get more than one smiley face until after you O.
Cause I know for sure I didn't miss it this month and just got the one positive Sat morning and randomly decided to take my last test of the box Sat afternoon and got a neg. Just curious if that's really how it works.
Wondered if you knew. lol
DISREGARD. I found the answer And it is normal to only get one smiley!

@Arden: Love the sprinkes of baby dust comment. Can you dump it instead of sprinkling it. I could use more of it. haha!!

@Crisark: What's the answer to why the digi OPK only shows the smiley once? Is it because the digi records your hormones level, and subsequently when it's lower, it's no longer a smiley face? (My assumption).
My smileys only shows up once. Although I have extra sticks left over and I've used mine 4 times already! One cycle I got super lucky and got a smiley face the first time I tested, so I was able to re-use the tester!

@Crisark: I got a smiley yesterday around noon and then again at 430, which is when I normally test. But this afternoon it was negative. I tested again just cause I wanted to see what it would do. Why can you only get it once?

Sigh. I'm CD12 and all of the sudden, 2 days after AF left I started spotting AGAIN. I am so angry and upset about this. So to rehash, I had AF CD1-CD5, then on CD8 I started spotting again. UGH. Wtf mother nature??? As if the mc wasn't enough crap for me to deal with.
Sorry for being such a downer... I can't see myself O'ing anytime soon, I might need a July thread for pete's sake...

@cokiezombie: that is exactly the reason!@Smurfette: What she said lol
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@cokiezombie: @Crisark: so I can't reuse the digital tester? I bought a 20 pack but I had no idea that I could only use it for one cycle. I have like 9 left. Was planning on using them next month, if not BFP. That is a bummer.

@sslm: I'm sorry!
A wheelbarrow load of baby dust to you. This needs to be your month!
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@sslm: That. Sucks. I'm trying to come up with a reasonable explanation, but instead I'll just hope it was a random pre-ovulation fluke. Good luck!
pomegranate / 3398 posts
@Smurfette: The strips are fine but you'll need to start with a new reader. You can get a thing with 7 tests and a new reader for a lot cheaper than the 20 test one.
I don't know why I didn't figure out the reason sooner since it seems so obvious but I sure didn't. As soon as I read it it was like a light bulb went off lol
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Crisark: I didn't even think about this. Annoys me cause I bought the 20 pack thinking that it would last a couple months. But basically you have to buy a 7 pack every month so you get a new tester. Thanks for the info otherwise I would have been wondering next month why I never got a positive. Although hopefully I won't have to buy any more next month!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
Wait wait, WHAT? You have to use a new tester every month?? Why? I got a positive on my first stick with this new box (since I was using an old tester with old sticks for the first few days)...
Edit: it seems on some forums people use the tester over and over until the battery dies? http://www.fertilethoughts.com/forums/i-wish-someone-had-told-me/700108-tip-ovulation-testers-clearblue-easy-refill.html
pomegranate / 3398 posts
@JoJoGirl: You can do whatever makes you comfortable. I got more info on the other way then what you found. However, I'm sure that if you start reusing the test and get negatives for a while your baseline will go down so when your surge starts again it would pick up the difference.
I say whatever you want to do since we can't know for sure.
I am by no means an expert just throwing out the info I found
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
I'm also completely dumbfounded that you need to buy a new tester!! I too bought a 20 pack hoping to reuse it what was leftover from last month... Hopefully it still works because I plan on reusing it this month. Guess I'll update next week on if the reader gives me a smiley or not since I plan on O this weekend.

I bought a digital clear blue easy opk and reused the handheld part for 3 cycles and got a smiley face each month. I just made sure to test on cd 6 each cycle to kind of reset the baseline but I dunno if that made any difference or not.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@gracecat: Good tip! I will try it next month if I don't get my BFP this month.
pomegranate / 3398 posts
@gracecat: @Alivoo01: I think @JoJoGirl: is probably right.
My main question originally was why I didn't get more than one smiley face a month. Then I found the info explaining that the tester keeps track of your previous tests so when you have one higher that's when you get the smiley. Then I saw some info on maybe needing to use a different tester each month as to "start over" But, I'm sure (like I said before) that you could almost certainly reuse the tester as long as you start early enough to get a new baseline.
Can't believe everything you read on google lol Just have to go with what you feel is right. I just hope I don't need to worry about it next month

Thanks for the support girls! I'm just completely deflated right now. I think I'll take a break from the boards until I O! I'll hopefully be back soon with a POAS date. Good luck everyone!!!!!!
cantaloupe / 6206 posts
@Crisark: Oh no, I hope you didn't think I was disagreeing with you! I was more panicking because I had a BRAND NEW box and got a smiley on my first test, so thought the whole box and the tester would go to waste! But resetting the thing by peeing on it at the beginning of the cycle makes sense. And I totally got your question, ie can you use the digitals to detect when the LH surge ends, but I have no idea so I didn't answer it
@sslm: Good luck, keep us posted! Hang in there!

@JoJoGirl: no no no I didn't take offense. Sorry if my post came off that way. I'm kinda snippy today lol

I'm late to the game, but I'd like to join in. Lots of EWCM today and my temp took a little dive, so I think today is O day. We've been BDing pretty consistently this past week. Oh, today is CD 21. I have pretty long cycles! I like to try waiting AF out before I POAS, so I'll plan to on June 16th.

@Arden: I tried Preseed this month. I don't know if it worked yet, but as a lube it's awesome. Feels almost like natural mucus, rather than sticky and gross like other lubes.

Good morning! This week has been crazy for me, so I haven't been able to get on HB at all. The good news is that waiting to O has been pretty painless since I've been so busy. I am at CD 10 on cycle 15 & got "high" readings yesterday and today on my CBEFM. I should O sometime this weekend, so put me down to POAS on June 18, please.
I took Clomid on days 3-7 & didn't have terrible side effects. Just a lot of bloating. Hopefully this month is it!! We'll do one more cycle of only Clomid and then move on to IUI at the end of July if we need to.

Guess I'll jump over to this board - CD2 of cycle 3. FF tentatively gives me a POAS day of June 28th, so let's go with that for now. Good luck to everyone!

@Smurfette: I used my first digital OPK tests for 3.5 cycles before I ran out. I didn't think the digital OPK were fancy enough to have a memory or track, I just thought it was a reader for the sticks? I always take my sticks out and look at them, and when I get a smiley face, it is clearly darker than the previous test I took.
Anyway, I'm excited because I ovulated yesterday. I had a chemical pregnancy that ended on May 13, so I wasn't sure if I would ovulate this month or not, and my doctor said it was OK to try, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Not sure when I am going to test, though. My cycle is off bc of the chemical pregnancy, and I don't want to be disappointed again - I got my BFP last cycle two days early, and then lost the pregnancy nine days later.
This is cycle four for us.

@Meeshling: It actually says on the instructions to not base the result off of the stick. It's not like the non digital tests. Glad you still got your smiley faces though!

well, i was thinking that i might have had implantation bleeding yesterday (http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/anybody-have-implantation-bleeding), and the suspense was killing me, so i gave in and tested this morning. BFN.
i guess i'm not out yet, but still disappointed.
