if you were traveling and doing lots of outings would you carry a small umbrella or a poncho with you?

poncho. I don't like the look but can't beat the convenience.

Unless I'm in a tropical country during rainy season I always prefer a small umbrella. I just hate the feeling of ponchos, especially when they get wet.

Do you expect a lot of rain or intermittent? If you are not sure it will rain, ponchos are easy to pack and you are hands free. IF you are with kids they will stay drier in a poncho or raincoat.

@808love: @peachykeen: thanks - this is super early planning on my part - a friend and I are taking a trip next Summer and she sent me her packing list (she travels a lot) and she said she carries a small umbrella with her but I was thinking a throw away poncho might be better since it would cover the entire backpack and my hands would be free

@Mamaof2: Totally a style decision! Poncho is a great mom's choice. Just bring your poncho and bum off your friend for light rain.
