My MIL dropped by unexpectedly this afternoon. At first I was annoyed since my apartment was a big mess but she played with LO and the dog for almost two hours while I cleaned the kitchen and took a little nap! 
Do you get surprise visits from family?

My MIL does this often and I don't like it. I hate being caught off guard.

Never. My family is very respectful of our space and DH's family lives out of town so they'd never drive all the way in without warning.

Nope! My fam is around but they always call first. Dh's parents live across the country

Oh I would die. But I never open the door when someone knocks or rings the bell so they wouldn't come in anyways.

MIL and DH's grandparents always come over without calling ahead of time. Just let me freaking know! We have asked them time and time again to call, still they come by without a heads up.

I would hate that!!
Our parents all live out of town, so thankfully that will never be an issue for us. I'm stressed out knowing that my parents will be visiting in January...
