Bee and I were hanging out with some friends this weekend who also have a boy the same age as our son. A mom said that the dads have an unfair advantage raising sons, because we're naturally into comic books, Transformers and iPad games. When I thought about it, having those shared interests with my kids has really helped a lot.

But while it's true that I've bonded with my son over that stuff... I've also bonded with my daughter over My Little Pony! If the kids are watching cartoons, I usually watch the shows out of the corner of my eye and we talk about it afterward. I do think I have one advantage: I find it really easy to think like a kid. It's almost like I never grew up at all! Haha just kidding, sort of.

My wife has a big advantage in that she is way more thoughtful than me with the kids. She thinks of the kids first, which doesn't come naturally to me.

Do you or your SO have an unfair advantage when it comes to parenting?
