What do you think about boys names like Scout, Dash, Fisher, etc. I think we would consider something like this but I need ideas!

I think as long as it doesn't sound too inanimate or weird you are probably ok. I don't love the whole Tagg, Trigg, Track thing that the romneys and palins had going on.

I really like Dash and Fisher. Dash makes me think of The Incredibles, which is a good thing for me, but I'm not sure how it is for you.

Depends on the name, some I like but most not so much.

Scout reminds me of the (girl) lead in to kill a mockingbird... also I have a hard time picturing an adult male with that name. I like the others though.
Others that seem similar to me are Hunter and Archer. Of all of them, I think Archer is my fav.

I really liked Nash when I was pregnant last time...but I wanted something more classic so it got nixed. For me all male names have to be masculine - nothing feminine, but for girls I like unisex names.

I went to high school with a Dash, he was a basketball player and sooooo dreamy (so I thought then)! So I like that name, haha!

I like Archer, Fisher and Sawyer. I also like London as a boys name.
I think Scout is super cute, but I do picture the girl from To Kill A Mockingbird, so it's not a male name to me.

I like them too! Have you tried Nymbler.com? I put in Dash, Archer and Fisher and got some cool options. My favorites that it gave were Mercer, Dempsey, Upton, Foster... Well I could list all day! There were others that I found way out there but in a way that would be intriguing if someone introduced their child as Burke or Eldridge.

@Mrsjets: I agree, I want something really masculine but not just "Michael".
@Mrs. Jacks: Yes, I agree, some of them go a bit far for me, even "Colt".
My biggest problem is that I love names like this, but we cant do anything that ends in -en or -er. So @grizz: that knocks out Fisher even though I love it!

I love untraditional boy names! One of my LO's name is Sawyer, which someone mentioned here. The other's name is much less common and we get a lot of mixed reactions but we love it and it fits him perfectly.
And Scout is one of my favorite names ever, but for a girl.
honeydew / 7235 posts
@Arden: my LO's middle name is Archer!
We talked about Dash for a while - but I got a few kardashian references which turned me off of it. Hmm.... the only names I can think of end in -er! We ultimately went really traditional! ha.

Dash reminds me of the Incredibles! I really love Fischer though!
I like the somewhat nontraditional names, but like Mrs.Jacks said.....it can't be too out there!

I like nontraditional names all around, as long as they aren't TOO out there. Oranjello- no.... the ones you mentioned, yes.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@o0olibelulao0o: Oranjello...ha!
@T.H.O.U.: I'm not crazy about Scout, but it sounds too much like a boy scout or a dog to me. But, I like a lot of the other ones. Dash is kind of cool!

We considered Dash for a middle name, but DH vetoed it because it reminded him too much of the Kardashians and their store. -.-
DS' first name is tradition, his middle is untraditional!

@o0olibelulao0o: Oranjello! Please tell me you know someone with that name
I really like nontraditional boys names. I don't have any new suggestions, but I love every one that's been listed already. And, I also think of Scout as a girl name

I love Hunter, Archer, Fisher, etc- but sad you can't use anything ending in -er or -en.
I like Nash a lot! Don't like Dash because of Kardashians. Don't like Scout- it's a girl name to me.
I like Colt/Colton, Ace, and Dax - Dax is close to Dash! I babysat a little boy named Dax about 6 years ago and he was ADORABLE and I just loved the name for him. His dad was almost named Dax (to the point where HIS dad made a cool wooden peice for his nursery but then they changed their mind- so then he gave it to his son to use when he chose Dax!) I think that would go well with your DD's name too.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@kjpugs: Yes, I forgot I knew a Dax and I like that name with my DD's.
I forgot Emmett was also on our short list last time but I don't think thats really untraditional.

@swurlygurl: haha no definitely not. I don't think there is any way I could take that person seriously if they had that name.

Scout was on our boys list, still is!
We really like Denver, Scout, Cruz, and Harvey. I like August, but it sounds bad with our last name.
nectarine / 2134 posts
@Cole: Cool website!
Cruz is my choice for a non-traditional name (although I think there's a Posh Spice child with that name). I also love the names Reid and Brooks and Pax (although it reminds me of the Jolie-Pitt crew).
pomegranate / 3706 posts
@Rainbow Sprinkles: you're kidding! Harvey and August have both been on our boys list since we were picking names for S!
eggplant / 11287 posts
@erinpye: if this baby was a boy he would have been Harvey for sure!!
persimmon / 1343 posts
I judge these on a name by name basis lol, some work, like Archer or Phoenix, and some are just too out there for me like Blade or Blaze (the two names my ex-bf's cousins were debating between for their baby!)
I Love Harvey too! It was my grandpa's name

I prefer Dashiell (use Dash as nn), but maybe something like Cy (nn for Cyrus), Troy, Rod (nn for Roderick), Ty, Caspar, or Jasper?
