i did! DH and I took our 5 month old to Cuba for an all inclusive vacation for a week. We decided it was a good time to go because it was free for the baby to travel, he was still only eating breastmilk so no need to worry about packing food/feeding him solids, he could not crawl/walk yet so no need to worry about running after him. Those were all the positives that made it easy. However, it was definitely not a carefree vacation like we were used to before a baby. Just like back home, everything we did had to revolve around his naps and feeding him. We also had to worry about taking him out in the sun, I basically spent the least time on the beach that i ever did on a beach vacation. But it was okay. We had fun and it was a learning experience. Definitely would have been better if we had some help, even if to just have one night "off" to ourselves. Though we were able to have alone time after baby went to sleep each night and we brought drinks back to our room.

eta: i think the part we planned the worst was dinner time. We made dinner reservations each night for 6pm thinking it would be good for the baby to go early. well, that meant leaving the beach well before 5pm so i could shower, get ready and feed baby. We ended up rushing, baby never ate drank enough before dinner and so we ended up rushing during our dinner so we could feed him again. Definitely in hindsight it would have been better to make our dinners much later so i could stay on beach until 6pm and have time to feed baby and get ready.

We went on a few weekend trips and then a spent a week in San Francisco when DD was 9 months. It was fun! She slept in the carrier, so one of us would wear her and one of us would carry all our stuff, and we still got to do almost everything on our list. The only disappointment was going back to hotel right before the Chinese New Year parade started because DD was tired and cranky and cold. We were able to watch the parade from the hotel room window, but we would,ve liked to be down in the action!

I think the younger, the easier. We went to Hawaii with Lala when she was 8 months old. It was fantastic!

We have traveled quite a bit but it usually involves visiting family although we do the traveling part alone. We flew with James when he was 3 months to park city Utah. The drove to New Mexico when he was 4 months. Then I also had travel restrictions. We took small weekend trips like to San Diego and Northern California. Wen the twins were 5 months old we flew to park city. Then we just did weekend trips again. When the twins were a year and James was 21 months we did a road trip and went to several national parks on our way out to Utah. As they have gotten older we have done that same drive again plus flown to new york, and colorado. None of them have been relaxing vacations but I love making memories with my kids. It's a ton of work and i am tired at the end of it but its still fun. It's just different than what a vacation used to be before kids.

We went to the Florida Keys with our 11 month old. It went great, although it was certainly pretty different from our pre-baby vacations. We decided to rent a house, so that DD could have her own room. (Hotel rooms shared with babies who go to bed at 7:30 PM are no fun.) We also basically just planned to take it easy. We spent days lounging around our rental house and sitting on the beach. DD *loved* the beach... although she definitely didn't let us just lounge in the sand like we're used to. One useful tip for a beach vacation is to bring lots of blankets to spread out on the sand, and get some kind of beach tent or umbrella for shade.

You can do it! We did more weekend trips that worked well. We also flew across country around the year mark, but that was more difficult as he was getting more mobile. Truly, the younger the easier!

I took my son to the Mediterranean at 8 months of age, traveling alone. What helped on that trip was the fact that my aunt organized a stroller, pack and play and car seat so all I was responsible for was the suitcase. She did a little research and ore shopping so we had the essentials when we arrived. I would do it again in a heartbeat. It went well and we did the same trip last summer but for longer!
