Valentine's Day POAS

@mrskc: Fingers crossed for you! I'm with you on temping next cycle. This not knowing stuff is annoying.

As for me, I don't really know what's going on. I've been having AF-like cramps for a few days, but it's too early for implantation and AF, and also, I thought for sure I Already ovulated so WHO KNOWS. ack.

I'm CD19 and no O in sight. But my cycles are usually around 35 days, so I'm sure its on its way. Just frustrating to have to wait around so long.

@redsmarties: I know what you mean. If we don't get lucky this time around, we could have to wait up to even 40 days to even get an opportunity to try again

CD17 and still waiting for O, too. I was hoping I'd O earlier than this since I'm on Femara this month. *sigh*

@sslm: Yep. You think after a year I'd be used to it by now, but I seriously wish I had the 28 day cycles of my teens.

How is everyone doing? For those expecting to O, did you yet? Fertility Friend is telling me that I O'd on CD17, so I'm currently 5 DPO. I'm not sure if I'll be able to wait until Valentine's Day to POAS, since that will be 20 DPO for me. Though I may try to wait anyway just because if AF hasn't arrived by then, my chances for a BFP will be pretty good (at least, I think), and it could be fun to test on Valentine's Day.

I signed up for FF today!! I manually put in my O date and it said since it doesn't have enough data for me I should wait until 18dpo to test, which coincidentally is valentines day!!

I'm probably not going to wait that long. I have plans to have drinks with a friend on Saturday and I'll probably test that morning just to be safe. I'll only be 9dpo though!!

@sslm: haha, yeah, Fertility Friend is telling me to wait 16-18 days to test too because this is my first cycle and it doesn't know what's normal for me. I'm going to try to wait until Valentine's Day to test, but if AF doesn't show up mid next week, I may test before!

I read something (now I forget where...) that says you don't share a blood supply with the fetus until about six weeks, so even if you are pregnant, having a drink now shouldn't hurt it at all. I'm planning on having a glass of wine on the 11th when I go out for Valentine's Day.

@sslm: I just signed up for FF too! I also went out and bought a basal body thermometer. I started taking my temp this morning. I know you're not supposed to start in the middle of your cycle, but I wanted to get used to waking up to take my temp.

CD 22 for me and I still haven't got a positive OPK. I'm not sure if I just haven't ovulated or I missed my surge. My last cycle was 35 days, so if I wait until after day 35, that would put me at 2/13 to test.

  13. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@mrskc: I think I need a better thermometer! According to mine I typically have a low body temp.

Forgot to mention I am going for my CD24 bloodwork today, which would confirm if I O'd! Unfortunately I don't think my doctor planned on letting me know the results unless something was wrong.

@sslm: Is it a basal body thermometer? How low is your temps? Mine seemed to be around 97.2 - 97.5 before I ovulated, and 97.8 - 98.0 after (at least so far).

  15. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@sslm: I thought mine was low too. Mine was 96.23 this morning. But it's only the first morning I've done a temp.

  16. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@Adira: no it's just a regular one that reads to .1
@mrskc: Around the same as you! About 96.5.

  17. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@sslm: It may not be very accurate then. I had a regular thermometer and it was giving me readings from 95.5 to 96.5. I switched to a basal body thermometer and now my readings seem more accurate (97.2 - 98.0).

  18. sslm

@Adira: Can I buy one at a normal store? Like walmart?

  19. hilsy85

@sslm: I bought my basal thermometer at duane reade. It should say "basal thermometer" on it. I think walmart definitely has them, as does target and cvs.

@hilsy85: Thanks!!! How are things going with you?

@sslm: So far, pretty boring! I had some EWCM today, so hopefully I'm gearing up to O on Friday (CD18). I'm trying to decide what would be the best BD schedule--14, 16, 18, 20, or 15, 17, (maybe 18), and 19. What do you think? I mean, I figure Bding on O day is good, but then I read somewhere that your chances are actually higher if you BD on the day before you O. And I don't want to do it tooo much, just in case (not that DH has any issues that we know of, but still).

ETA what's everyone else's BD schedule this cycle? Also, is it really lame that it's only cycle 4 and I'm already talking about a BD "schedule"?! =P

  22. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@hilsy85: My RE suggested alternating cycles. I usually O on CD20, so she recommended 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22. If that doesn't work this cycle, she recommended switching. However, that's pretty dependent on O-ing on the same day every cycle.

That's kind of a non-answer...but my two cents, anyhow.

  23. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@hilsy85: Hmm... I feel like I would be tempted to do CD17 and CD18, since you don't think your DH has any issues. If you BD 24 hours apart, you should be good. But that's certainly not an expert opinion!! Just what I would do

  24. sslm

    cantaloupe / 6397 posts

@hilsy85: Lol. Because I have crazy long and irregular cycles, my doctor just said to BD every other day until I get my period... it's getting very tiring on CD24!!

  25. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@Adira: Fertility Friend STILL tells me to wait 18 days to test, probably because I've got some wonky cycles recorded. I don't ever listen...though maybe I should this month? IF I O today, 18 days puts me at Feb 17....not nearly as fun as testing at 15DPO on Valentine's Day.

  26. hilsy85

    squash / 13764 posts

@redsmarties: I was actually thinking of you when I came up with my 2 options, lol I think the alternating thing makes sense...it's just so hard to not BD when I see EWCM. I'm always thinking, "Well, maybe we should, just in case..." But then DH and I get tired out by the 4th day in a row, and one month I had 6 days of EWCM!

  27. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@hilsy85: I have the same problem! On the off days, I'm like, what if this is it and I'm missing it! But then I realize it's probably for the best anyhow. Good luck!

  28. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

    @hilsy85: We've been BDing every other day since CD 14. It's now CD 22. And I don't even think I've O'd yet.

@mrskc: oy! Well, good for you for keeping on! I hope you O soon!

We're doing it on the even days this cycle.

  32. Adira

@sslm: I got my thermometer at Walmart. I think it just says "basal thermometer" on it. They might also have them at Target or a pharmacy story like CVS or Rite-Aid.

@redsmarties: Yeah, FF is telling me to wait 16-18 days to test too because it's my first cycle and it has no idea what's normal for me. That'll put me around Valentine's Day, so that's what I'm going to do. I would think 15 DPO would be fine for you though! If it's negative and you still haven't seen AF, just wait 3 more days and test again.

@redsmarties: Thanks for the advice on the schedule. I think we were also going with the "more is better approach" and burning out. I'm also starting acupuncture tonight, so we'll see if that helps. And I just gave notice at my stressful job... so a lot less anxiety for me soon!

@GreenThumb: that's awesome about your job! Hopefully that helps- its amazing what stress can do! I still don't have the nerve to give notice where I am. Hope the 'schedule' works for you!

Even though my chance to POAS will be after Valentine's Day, I'm joining it! I'm on CD 8 and waiting to O - hopefully CD 13/14. Gotta start the OPK to track that. So, AF is due on Feb 20th!

    Good luck ladies!

I'm pretty sure that I FINALLY O-ed. Yesterday was full of EWCM and today I had a pretty decent temperature spike (from 36.20-36.55). We'll call that O, unless my temps tomorrow and Saturday say something differently.
Oh finally, CD23, I can join the TWW.

@redsmarties: Yay!!!! That's awesome news!! It's about time! You'll have to let us know if your temps stay elevated the next couple days, but that jump sounds like you O'd to me!
