@tororojo: Good idea re: Longchamp! Their totes are relatively inexpensive, easy to care for, and really cute/age appropriate - and it's a very recognizable brand without having to have a logo stamped all over it.

Check eBay for good deals on coach. I got my mom a beautiful (authentic, eBay seriously cracks down on fraudulent merchandise) coach purse for $75 last Christmas. It was a summer style, like what you'd probably find at an outlet.
