How soon did you let visitors in after you had the baby (in the hospital)? Specifically parents, I guess.

My MIL wants to be in the waiting room and come in right away and see the baby. She said even if I go into labor at midnight, she'd be too nervous at home. I said I wanted a shower first. I didn't want to get into the whole "i want skin-to-skin, i want to breastfeed her, I know they have stuff they do to her, etc" spiel, or how I want some time with just me+DH+the baby before visitors barge in. I know it'll be an issue with my mom, too! In fact, I'm sure my mom will try to be in the delivery room, but thatsnotgonnahappen.

General consensus seems to be about an hour. Was this the case for you? Do you think an hour is reasonable? I feel kind of like an ass being like, "yeah come to the hospital, wait around while i'm in labor, then wait at least an hour after the baby's here, THEN you can come in"...but whatev. I'm wondering if it'll come up again at Christmas
