My dh is way way more patient and tries CIO longer then I'm comfortable. I've learned that our lo will make herself sick from crying if left too long. I don't do CIO!

oh gosh!!! yes I would definitely intervene at that point dear! I know I could not handle my son in hysterics and that is when I "broke the rules". You need to modify any sleep training approach to work for you and your baby. DON'T do anything you're not comfortable doing, you need to be okay with it and not feel guilty however your approach it.

Maybe try more frequent checks... or initially start trying to get her to fall asleep with you in the room. You can gently pat her tummy (or back, however she sleeps) until she drifts off to sleep. This didn't work with my son - it didn't calm him down - but I know it works with many.

There is another method called the sleep lady shuffle that might work for you, if she is calmed by your presence.

I loved the book The No Cry Sleep Solution and highly recommend it. Many of the techniques helped us get through the first 6 months until we were comfortable doing the CIO technique.

Oh poor baby! I know lots of people swear by CIO/modified CIO sleep training, but it just doesn't work in our house at all. It caused so much bed time anxiety in the house for me, DH, LO and even our dog got seriously distressed when LO was left to cry.

I don't have a sleep champion, he is still up 1-2 times per night at 9 months old, and has never STTN, but I am totally at peace with that, and I don't think I ever could have gotten at peace with letting my baby cry.
