I've done something similar and my mom sometimes came over with a book to read while DS slept. They also went on lots of walls and he slept in the stroller. The one problem was that if DS saw me glued to a computer, he cried and wanted to play with BOTH of us. So if you can, I'd recommend having a work area where your baby can't see you.

So, I'm not working, but I am in grad school and I have designated homework days (well, it's my summer break now but, I did). My mil comes over and I completely hid away. Like, LO does not even realize I am home. I think that is crucial.
My mil goes about her business as usual (playing, baths, stroller walks, lunch) and if LO goes to sleep, she watches tv, gets on her iPad, naps in our guest room, makes herself (and me!) some coffee. It's only 3 hours for us, so it works out great.
Just make sure your mom doesn't think it is hang-out with YOU time when LO is asleep.
That's another reason why I stayed in the office and didn't come out. I wanted to really give the effect that I was "at work."

It was super easy when DS was an infant. My mom would come over most days. And I'd just lock up in the den.

He's 22 months now and my mom only comes over on my slow days because DS will interrupt me all day long. DH or I usually drop him off at my mom's most days now.
