And I actually feel a bit better about everything. There are lots of mums here with babies in harnesses and they are cuddling them just fine. Still had lots of tears but feel a bit better. Hopefully see the extent of A's hip dysplasia and find out the treatment when they call us in, but expecting to go home with a little girl in a harness. Poor baby!

Aww I am so sorry.
My brother had a club foot. We had to go visit a lot of doctors for him and he had surgery. He is now very athletic and grew up just fine!

We had to see an pediatric orthopaedic before we left the hospital as well. DD's hips were really tight and her foot was bent in a funny way. It turned out that we didn't need a brace for her, so I'm hoping that you won't need one either.

Wow, I must have ESP. I just posted on your wall this morning to see how you were doing. Hugs!! Seeing the harness and putting it on my LO was so incredibly hard. You will cry and feel bad, but it's ok. Really, my LO had no issues with it and really was just fine. It's harder on mom and dad. I am hoping for a positive experience for you! Please post an update when you get out.
P.S. I go for x-ray follow up on Feb 5th for LO and am nervous about it. I know how it feels! xo

@chrispygal: aw thank you. It has helped seeing the other mums here in the waiting room and chatting to them. have tried really hard not to cry but not doing very well, lol. DH is here too though do when we do get seen I know he'll be great. Good luck for your daughter's ultrasound too!

I was in these braces as a baby. And i don't remember a lick of it! It was definitely harder for my mom than me

Thank you all so much. The doctor thought she had improved since the first ultrasound just before Christmas, and doesn't think she will need surgery, fingers crossed. They fitted her in a Pavlik harness and will check it every week. They've given it a 75 per cent chance of working, which is really quite good. She cried when they put her in it but to be honest I cried a lot more, she was seriously brave. She cries when she wakes up and realises she's strapped up but she's breastfed once already and hasn't been anywhere near as upset as I thought. Now fingers crossed that it works!

It's been a rough night though, Ariela's not a fussy baby at all but she's been crying her heart out all night and fighting the harness so hard. Nursing soothes her, thank goodness. Hoping she'll go down in her crib for at least a little bit.

She's a lot calmer and isn't thrashing around anymore, she has actually worked out she can still kick a little, andwe've had some good smiles out of her too. What a little superstar!

My mom and I were going through my old baby clothes yesterday and found the harness I had to wear. I don't know how severe my dysplasia was but I do know that in the 31 years since I have been 100% fine. Your baby girl is going to grow up strong and won't remember this at all. -
