Waiting/NTNP Check in?

Is anyone else interested in having a "waiting" or NTNP check in?

I really like the atmosphere on this board better than other pregnancy boards, but sometimes I feel like there isn't quite a "place" for me yet! I came to the board when I was miscarrying to get some information then, but now DH and I aren't exactly "trying" yet again, but I'd love to have a community of like minded people to check in with when I do get stressed about things!

Anyone else not quite ready to join POAS threads?

DH and I have pretty much been NTNP for two years since we got married. (more "not trying" than "not preventing." I've always charted so we were aware when I was fertile and we'd avoid that)

But at first, we were both pretty "meh" at the idea of having kids.

I've only been REALLY wanting a baby since last fall. After a miscarriage, we compromised on waiting to try until May (although really...two months? Does that make a huge difference? )

DH is very practical and thinking of things like moving into a bigger home and saving some more money. I think I've passed the practicality of it all and am just ready to be pregnant!

Hi! DH and I have a 15 month old DS. We are waiting until December when he is 2 to start trying for LO#2. I had a tough pregnancy and birth so I have no problem waiting a little while longer!

ETA: Great idea for a thread! I bet there are lots of bees out there that are in this limbo stage.

I am in the middle of my last TWW for a while, so once it's over, I won't be joining any other POAS boards. If this cycle isn't the one for us (it's been twelve months), we are taking a TTC break and will be NTNP until at least June.

We are TTC #1, we will be married 4 years in April, and together for 10 years in May. We love each other, but a baby would introduce some new excitement for us. I know it will happen, just learning to be patient now.

I'm in this limbo stage as well! DS is going to be 2 next week. We needed fertility treatments to get pregnant with him (injectibles + IUI) however, my body seems to be trying to do something and for the last year I've had a few cycles and some monthly spotting. I've been to my OB a few times regarding my very wonky cycles but since we haven't wanted to TTC, we haven't taken any actions as far as hormone testing to see what is up.

I do want to consider taking metformin to see if that can help regulate my cycles and then see if I ovulate on my own. If that doesn't help then it is back to the RE towards the end of the year. I want our kids closer together but DH wants to wait so we can save up some more since we will have two kids in daycare.

@KT326: I've been on metformin and had to take a round of progesterone to straighten out my cycles when I first came off BCP.

It wasn't fun when I took them, but they seem to have helped! I went from 100 day cycles to pretty standard 32 day ones.

I hope you can find something that works for you!

I'm also in limbo! I love this idea.

DS is almost a year and we'd really like our little ones to be close in age. We're reaching the point of NTNP - especially the past couple weeks. I think we both knew we'd want to start NTNP soon so we've just gotten careless.

I'm feeling conflicted because I really do want little ones close in age but DS is still a baby (for a few more weeks haha) and I'm always overwhelmed with managing work/baby/home/DH. Part of me thinks I'm a lunatic to get ready for another LO, but on the other hand no matter what my life circumstances have been, I've always felt overloaded.

@MaryM: Thanks! I've taken progesterone many times. I had a nonexistent cycles before having LO. I'm hopeful that we won't need treatments this time but we shall see!

We're waiting to try. We need to move to a bigger place. I'd like to get pregnant sooner than later, but the whole moving thing will probably come first. LO turns 2 in August, so I'd like to be pregnant before that. I'm getting worried about fertility and too many years between kids.

ETA: I'm almost goal weight, so losing more weight would be nice too.

We have an 18 month old...I had 2 miscarriages before him, and one just this past September. We're NTNP. DH actually just brought up again last night about "really" trying, and I let him know that I was sort of comfortable with our current approach. After 3 miscarriages, I'm afraid of getting pregnant again and miscarrying again. I want nothing more than to give LO a sibling, but the last MC was really hard on me. I'm not sure I want to go through that again.

To top things off, b/c my MCs weren't all in a row (2 before LO and one after), they won't do any infertility testing on me until I have 3 in a row. That's infuriating to me. I'm going to chat with my OBGYN at my upcoming appointment at the end of the month about testing again and start to insist on it. 3 out of 4 pregnancies ending in MC isn't exactly comforting.

@KT326: I meet with my gyno this Thursday and will be insisting on Metformin to help with my cycles. I don't want to do any more Clomid until I can get my cycles more regular and hopefully be in a better place with my weight too!

@2PeasinaPod: Good luck talking to your OBGYN about testing. It really seems like they'd be wanting to do more whether they were in a row or not.

I'm feeling somewhat similarly about you in regard to NTNP. I'm not sure if I ever want to "try" in terms of having sex because it's a good time to conceive. It's been odd enough to get back to "normal" in the bedroom following the MC. I'm not sure if we could take the pressure of "try"ing

@MaryM: Thank you! And I think that's it...I don't want to go through the pressure of trying to time my cycles the right way. I know DH wants to start doing that, but I just don't want that pressure right now. I'm going to give it a few more months. If by the time LO turns 2, I'm not pregnant again, I'll start to track more carefully.

So, DH and I had a bit of a talk last night after date night when I filled him in that I'd registered for summer classes. I'm half-way through a master's program and planned to take one class over the summer because the session is shorter so the classes are longer and more intense.

I told him I signed up for two so I'll only have one class left next spring in my last semester. And if we get pregnant, I'll just have that one class to put off before finishing and it'll be easier to finish with just one to worry about after I take a semester off.

DH said "Isn't that why we're waiting until the end of summer to try again?"

End of summer?? He'd said May before!

But after listening to my plan I said I didn't want to "try" exactly, I just want to see what happens. He said ok, but then fell asleep.

So I'm *hoping* this means he's on board for NTNP through the summer (instead of waiting for May)?

I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much because I still want to confirm with him...but I can't help but be excited at the possibility!

DS is 16 months in two days.
I have a momcation planned for first wknd in May.
I never went back on BC and have used, NFP/abstinence/condoms as various forms of BC since DS.

We'll likely start actively trying in May

I'm the odd one out! I don't have any children yet, and we are still waiting/preventing! No idea when we will start trying yet.

I am in limbo land, following a miscarriage. I still haven't gotten AF following my D&C a month ago, so I'm just kinda hanging out. And then we still aren't sure how many cycles we'll take off. We were NTNP when we got pregnant this itme but may go into full blown trying now that more time has passed and DD is getting older. It also took us a year of trying to get pregnant with DD, so we are hoping this one is a little quicker.

@MrsBrewer, I don't have any children yet either, so you're not too odd!

@TidyBee, I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage. I think the 6 weeks waiting for my TOM to arrive after mine were some of the strangest 6 weeks (emotion wise). I both happy (I'm back to normal) and incredibly emotional (blood = bad) when it finally did arrive.

I hope your limbo experience is over soon!

Our LO is 4 months old, so we're waiting until probably August (he'll be 9 months then) to start trying. We're not really preventing right now other than breastfeeding, but I can't say there's a whole lot of DTD right now haha. Sleep comes first!

Good luck to everyone starting to TTC in the next few months!

I want to at least lurk on this thread, so I'll say hello now and then fade into lurker oblivion for a while. We're in the "waiting" phase right now and trying to decide when we want to TTC again. We have twins that just turned 1. I"m having my mirena removed in May or early June, but more because I'm not comfortable with some of the risks than to actually start TTC. Our issue is just trying to figure out when to TTC. We have a big vacation planned in August and it would be really nice to not be pregnant during that, plus we're moving to a new city the week after we get back. DH will be starting a new job and I'll be transitioning to SAH or WOH part-time. It'd be nice for the boys to be closer to 2 when we start TTC. There are so many reasons we should wait . . . but I have a serious case of baby fever right now! I keep thinking about the few pros to TTC earlier--like having our kids closer together in age when they are older, being out of the work force for less years, and just the fact that my little boys are way too busy to snuggle me anymore. DH needs to stay strong because I'm weeeaaak.

I am also much weaker than DH. He'd like for me to finish my grad program and for us to finish paying off debt and move into a larger house, but neither of us is getting any younger!

We have been married for almost a year (newlyweds! ), been together for 7 years. We are about to start NTNP, as I will not start birth control after this month's "off week." I'll be using OPKs to start with, although I'll probably end up temping too since I have PCOS and OPKs aren't always reliable with that...we will start officially trying after our one year anniversary in June.

I was really glad to come on here and see this board, especially after last night having a very real-feeling dream that I had a baby and was nursing it. It's at least the third time I've had a really vivid dream of having a baby, and it was kind of tough to wake up and realize it wasn't real.

I've had a few of those dreams that are just SO really it's scary.

The oddest one was when I dreamed my BFF had a baby (she is SO not sure she ever wants to have a baby) and DH and I were raising it as if it was our own.

Which is really odd considering DH is black and this baby so wasn't. But we were trying to convince people it was his.

And the same night, she had a dream she had a baby and put it in the closet to hide it so she didn't have to raise it. lol

@marym, I think in one of my dreams I left the baby at the hospital for some reason, and then woke up horrified that I was going to be a terrible mother! Of course in reality I would never do that, but it was upsetting!

So glad that this thread exists. DH and I are in the waiting phase as he started a new job a couple of months ago and doesn't feel ready yet. I'm hoping to go off my birth control after this month to regulate/adjust since I have been on it for almost 10 years. Hoping to start TTC this summer.

I started spotting today, so AF is around the corner. We will officially be NTNP until at least June.

Good luck to you @MrsPastryLady: I didn't regulate quickly, but hopefully you won't have any issues!

@SarahNicole218 thanks. my cycle was always weird before I went on birth control, so I'm crossing my fingers but fully prepared for it to take a little bit
