Our son was intense from day one...our daughter? Not so much. I'm having a heck of a time keeping her awake enough to feed. We've tried nakey time, tickling her feet, jiggling her head/my breast. Any other wise suggestions?

It didn't work for my son, but I was taught to draw a letter "s" on my LO's back. to wake him up. He was a sleepyhead as a newborn.

blowing some air on her cheek, massaging your breast...
my friend resorted to using a wet washcloth to wake her baby up... not sure I could do that, but my friend was determined!

Thanks...I have a low milk supply so we're on strict instructions to feed every two hous but I can't wake her up and keep her awake. I might have to resort to the wet washcloth.

My lactation consultant always said the last resort is wet washcloth ... she said she had to do it with her 3rd ... you gotta do what you gotta do - girls gotta eat!

My baby is 3 months and I still have this problem. I keep saying to my husband, once she decides she wants to sleep, there is no stopping her. I've tried all of these things. She's getting better as she gets older.

I second the cool washcloth. Also tickling her neck and back regularly so she doesn't drift off in the first place.

Diaper change with a cold wipe always works with my daughter. I feel bad doing it, but she's such a heavy sleeper and doesn't wake to eat often enough!

If you add in the wet washcloth, you have covered everything I know of to wake a sleepy newborn!
