I just cleaned out the condiments in our refrigerator and threw away an entire grocery bag full of expired condiments. The oldest one was from a year and a half ago! Why do condiments seem to expire so fast???

Seriously. DH bought some gourmet mustard last month and after we ate some I noticed it expired 3 days later! How the heck are we supposed to eat an entire bottle of mustard in 3 days?!

Lol, I do that every once in a while. Its tradition at my in laws that the salad dressing is expired. My mil will swear she just bought one, and we know it has to be new because hubby always throws out the expired ones when we're there, but its still expired.

Yeah, mustard goes bad surprisingly fast! I always like to check expiration dates on stuff, hehe.

Since I am home so much more now I cleaned out the kitchen- I would like to do an annual January purge again of spices and condiments in upcoming years.

Bah. I don't check expiry dates on condiments. There's so many presevatives that I can't see them ever turning. I go by the smell/taste test and I'm not dead yet...

OMG! I just did this last night! The oldest thing I threw out was a bottle of salad dressing that was expired March 2011.

So true, I think we just finished a bottle of ketchup we've had open for over a year, gross! I wish they'd sell them in smaller, more economical bottles.

I did this recently! We had some mustards and steak sauce from 2010 - gross!

=( i know, i get so upset because it's JUST when you actually need the condiment that it's expired. very annoying.

I've noticed that things seem to expire super fast, too. I wonder how many expired condiments we used to eat as kids...I feel like we always had the same salad dressings and mustard bottles forever! So gross.

Also! Every summer, a group of us spend a week at a friend's parent's cabin. A year and a half ago, they completely renovated the kitchen and purchased brand new appliances. They somehow still have Pepto Bismol with an expiration date from 1992 in the fridge! What the heck! They actually emptied the old fridge out and put that in the new one without realizing how old it is?!
They have some of the oddest things up there...including some super old bottles of Shampoo and Conditioner in one of the bathrooms.

I hate buying condiments cause I never end up using all of it before they expire. Same thing with medicine (cough syrup, tylenol, neosporin, etc). We end throwing bottles of expired medicine and have to buy everything all over again. And medicine is expensive!!

Mr. Jacks' mom is the worst about this. She had a bottle of ranch from the 90's! Unacceptable!
