I'm 39w4d here with #2 and keep wondering/hoping it'll go quickly this time. DD was born in about 12h, if it does go faster this time, I'm curious to see just how much.
Was your 2nd labor faster than your first?

#1. 24 hours early labour, 11 hours active, 3 more for transition and pushing, pushing nearly 2 hours. 38 hours or so total.
#2. 2 hours early labour, 9 hours active, 1 transition/pushing, pushing was 9 mins. 12 hours total!
Much faster, 3oz difference in their birthweights! Into labour at 40+5 for both.

I was technically induced both times with pitocin (my water broke naturally with my first but contractions didn't start on their own). With #1 baby was born 9 hours after pit started, #2 was 5-6 hours after!

No experience myself, but my doula accidentally caught her own (second) baby because she thought she had way more time. Then her third took even longer than her first.

I'm interested in this too! My first was 15 hours which is not bad but I'm hoping it will be a little quicker this time.

@Beebug: Now this I like, 1/2 the time, 2nd time around...But 40+5 - oh man I feel for you. I'm getting anxious here already! Also, DH normally travels for work, he didn't this week in case baby came, but they won't be giving him more time if baby is late, so I hope it's soon so we take advantage of his time at home with us.

@Mrs.Someone: My SIL's sister had her 2nd baby in less than 1h - she was born at home and caught by her dad! Luckily we're very close to the hospital so if things are that quick, we should still have time to get there.

#1: 26 hours total, 14 hours in the hospital, c-section
#2: 18 hours total, 10 hours in the hospital, 1 hour pushing
#3: 8 hours total, 3 hours in the hospital, 20 minutes pushing

I'm wondering about this too
I'm only 4.5 weeks pregnant and I'm already nervous about the delivery. With my first I was in labour for less than 6 hours from the time my water broke until she was in my arms. It was even less time counting from contractions!

@Chastenet: Fingers crossed for you! I was soooo anxious and ready to have #2- it's miserable! I'm doing great! DD is getting to the point where she can sit up and is more interactive and we're having a blast
We definitely have our "moments" (usually brought on by a stubborn toddler....) but the positives definitely outweigh them by a longshot!

#1: About 17 hours total labour (from the time contractions were consistent and painful until she was born) including one hour of pushing. Labour started naturally and she was born on her due date.
#2: Labour was 6 hours from start to finish with one hour of pushing! Labour started naturally at 40+1 and LO was born 8.5 hours after her due date.

YES! 16 hours the first time, 6.5 hours the second time.

12 hours with my first vs 4 hours with my 2nd.

#1 was 9.5 hours, and #2 was 5.5 hours (they purposely stalled it by not breakiing the remainder of my water bag!), so it could've been faster.

These threads scare the crap out of me. LO was 3.5 hour labor (water breaking to fully dilated). Wonder if my OB will consider inducing me this time?! I literally lose sleep over wondering if I'll make it to the hospital in time.

#1 was 8 hours. #2 was 36 hours, and #3 was super fast (45 min) cause it was a scheduled c section.

My first was born 10 hours start to finish. We're about 35-45 minutes from the hospital this time around so as soon as I feel in any way that I'm in labor, we're heading down the road!

@sorrycharlie: Wow, 3.5h is very fast for a first time! My SIL's sister had a 4h labor the 1st time, and less than 1h the 2nd time - she did not make it to the hospital. But, all was well

@LaurelMae: Yes, I'm thinking I won't be dilly dallying too much either. Although I am only about a 15m walk, 3m drive from the hospital, so I can labor at home for a bit. -
#1 - induction, 9 hours, 1 hour pushing, eventual vacuum assist
#2 - 2 hours, 10 minutes pushing.

I've mentioned this on other threads, but YES! Much faster. LO1 was about 12 hours with an epi from the time my water broke to delivery. LO2 was 6 hours total from the time my water broke to delivery, but, my contractions didn't start until I was administered an enema, and once they got started the whole thing was only 45 minutes.

First time 12 hours, start to holding baby, pushed for an hour. Second time 5 hours and pushed for 10 mins. Both were inductions.
