My Mom's hospital didn't allow anyone but doctors and nurses in the room with the laboring woman!! Crazy! Mom says it was probably for the best for her. Dad would have probably sat by the bed and tap-tap-tapped the bed with his jimmy foot the whole time. HA!
But seriously, I can't imagine not having my husband there!!

Yep. Story goes that when my older brothers were born my dad brought a small bag of soil into the delivery room and hid it under my mom's bed and taped a small Texas flag on the wall above it....so that he could say that my brothers who were born in a hospital in Iowa were born on Texas soil (because the bag of soil was from his mom's front yard in TX) and under the Texas flag.

Pretty sure my dad was there when I was born. For my sister though my mom was put under so I know no one was there but medical personnel.

I'm pretty sure my dad was there (he was a medical resident at the hospital at the time). I'll have to ask them!

Yup, my dad was there. My mom was projectile vomiting pizza and liver and onions and the nurses all fled the room. My dad went to leave for a minute too but my mom grabbed his arm and gave him the "death glare" which I've inherited from her. He knew better than to try to leave after that!!

No! Only cuz my dad was crazy sick and mom had a c section. He also couldn't hold me right away because he was so sick

@Bookworm: Heh my brothers contend, to this day, that I was his favorite by default because I was ACTUALLY born in Texas! (I'm not, by far, but when I was little I was the youngest and the only girl...)

Nope and it wasn't the norm then. My dad got to see me about a week after I was born as he was traveling and my mom was at grandma's.

Yes, but I've heard that my mom kicked him out and asked for my grandma instead when things got rough. I think my dad was happy to be off the hook!
