My dad was not at all affectionate with me - I'm surprised I'm not entirely messed up in some way! He was (still is) just typically Asian in that he does not express any form of emotion. The only time I remember him hugging me was at my wedding when he gave me away and only because everyone told him he had to! LOL!

Yes - I think more so than my mom. We're not a huge hug and kiss family but my dad likes to give bear hugs and things like that - especially now with M.

Yes, growing up I would say good night and then hug each of my parents before I went to bed, and I still do as an adult when I visit them.

Not really affectionate but didn't (and still doesn't) mind his girls snuggling. We kind of forced it on him...my grandparents were not affectionate with him at all.

I think so. He's not a super emotive guy in general, but he was always affectionate with us. I remember holding his hand as a kid, and he always hugs us before bed, even today!

My dad wasn't that affectionate with us growing up... But after I returned home after college, he started saying things like "hello my lovely daughter!"

Neither of my parents were particularly touchy growing up, but I would say my dad was affectionate in other ways. He was always really big on spending time with me and teaching me stuff and telling me he loved me and thought I was awesome. And I certainly got goodbye hugs every time I was leaving for more than a day.

He wasn't especially huggy, but we talked a lot and he'd spend hours telling me stories. Plus, he worked really hard for us, so I think that was his affection. He made sure to remind us that he loved us though.

My dad lost his dad at a super early age, and his mother later on early too; so he's always been overly affectionate with my brother and me (and now DH and DS too). He pats us on the butt still

Not at all. The closest was a backrub if we whined enough, and rough housing.

Yes definitely. I was so surprised to hear others thought fathers and daughters holding hands or kissing was weird on a few other threads! My family is Italian American though, so I guess it's probably a more demonstrative culture.

I have a typical Chinese non affectionate father too, but he is way more affectionate now after living in the US. But my sister and I find him awkward when he tries to hug us

Not really. But he showed he cared and loved us in different ways. He was/is always very affectionate with my mother (hugging, kissing, etc), but not so much with us. It wasn't a big deal to me though, if I had wanted him to hug me more I could have asked and he probably would have just for me
It just wasn't something that came naturally to him. He didn't/doesn't say I love you much either, but I don't need to hear him say it to know that it's true.

Yes. I was the baby of the family and the only girl for a long time (until he got remarried). He called me his little princess. Even named me Sarah because of it. The he got remarried and things just changed. Now we barely speak.
Aside from hugs and kisses.
